When to start learning the Viola

Adult learner whose childhood was spent learning the piano.

I started learning a woodwind instrument 3 months ago and I am really enjoying it. I practise for about half an hour a day and rarely miss practice.

I've had the itch to start another instrument for a month or so now since it is so fun and was thinking of starting the viola since I've never played a string instrument.

Do you think it is advisable/doable ? I do have time to add another 30 minute practise slot to my day to day life.

I'm an adult beginner who started playing two months ago, as I would like to play with others. I have a lesson once a week and practise 30 minutes on 5 days a week. How long do you think it will take till I will be able to play in an amateur ensemble/band/orchestra?

Is there anything I could do to hone skills necessary for playing with others ?
