Has anyone used this med while on a GLP-1? What was your experience?

I've been Taking Tirzepatide since December, and have recently started taking 100mg SR of Bupropion with potential plans to increase to taking it twice a day.

Before the Tirzepatide, I have always been chronically tired, lacking energy and motivation, and just kind of pushed my emotions down. I've always kind of knew I was depressed, and had anxiety, I just didn't know what to do about it aside from talking to a therapist. Life circumstances and other mental health things finally pushed me to talk to my doctor about getting onto an anti-depressant.

She prescribed this because it is considered weight neutral, and she knows that weight loss is my goal to manage my health. I also spoke to my pharmacist (who is a big nerd and LOVES to be asked questions) and he did mention that glp-1s have been showing some evidence of affecting the reward center in the brain, and that Bupropion can do the same. He let me know that since I already have Anhedonia from the Tirz, I may even experience an uplifting effect, or that it would have the opposite or no effect at all. So far, the jury is still out but I am really hoping to have some semblance of energy and motivation back into my life. I'd love to hear anyone's experience with this.

As for the weightloss/appetite aspect? I'm having to make mental notes to myself to check in more often on my calories, and water. The glp-1 already gets rid of the food noise, and my desire to think about food. With just the Tirz, I would get hungry and eat when I was, but my appetite was curbed to the point where I could make the decision to eat when needed without food noise. But, with the Bupropion added, I literally do not want to eat at all now, and I have to force myself to- it's kind of becoming a chore. Not to mention, the indigestion and nausea is worse now than it was with just the GLP-1. Has anyone had this experience? Did some of the side effects dwindle down?

First Appointment

Just had my first appointment with BEWL, and I am so happy I made the switch. Dr. Pentzer asked me questions other providers haven't ever asked me in regards to my medical history to make sure this was the right medication for me, and even suggested a few non-rx remedies for nausea.

I'm so appreciative of the time and care taken by the entire BEWL team to help me on my way to success.

NSV that I'm really proud of

My blood pressure numbers have dropped significantly! For the longest time, my blood pressure has been in the 120-130/80-88 range. Not the worst but maybe not the best for me with all my risk factors taken into consideration, and it is a number that I've been trying so hard to keep in the 120/80 range or lower, but it's been difficult to do so.

The last several times I've been to the doctor, my BP has been about 106/62. This is a Major NSV that I am so proud of, and it makes me excited to see what my lipid panel will be at my annual follow up.

I know it might not be the biggest victory, but I really wanted to share with people who would understand!

Who do y'all recommend for providers?

Hey there friends! I am switching to BEWL! I reached out to one of the Krewe members, but I think you guys might the best ones to ask for provider recommendations!

Without going into too much detail, I am hoping to find a provider who:

1.) Is willing to be flexible and work with me in how I take my shot. I can only titrate up .5mg-1mg at a time due to nausea, and I take my shot every 6 days instead of 7 so I am not white knuckling life for too long between shots. I'm open to other things, but this has worked well for me so far.

2.) Has a bit of an understanding of PCOS/Hashimotos. I do have an endocrinologist, but I know that PCOS/Hashimotos can contribute to my weight, and a well rounded approach is what I am after.

3.) Is able to help support me on me strength training journey! It is my goal to maintain and maybe even build a little bit of muscle if I can!

Everyone honestly sounds like a great option, and I don't think I could really go wrong. But I'd love to hear some community feedback! For reference I am in WA, and I know that not all providers cover my state.

Thank you so much, friends!
