Deteriorating pieces

Hi there! I was just curious if anyone could help me out because I’m not sure what’s happening or what/if there’s anything I can do, but as you can see in the photos, these three pieces I have are shedding, having a lot of dust fallout, and seem to be deteriorating. The possum I bought last year, so I would’ve assumed perhaps something wasn’t processed right with that, but I’ve had the paws for over 5 years with absolutely no issue (they’ve survived two moves and a lot of handling). The small paw has the most notable damage (I’ll probably have to toss it as it’s disintegrating while being handled), followed by the possum head (parts are fine, other parts I can pull the fur off easily), and last the larger paw (fur isn’t coming off, but it’s shedding dust).

I’m just confused as to why they’re all suddenly doing this now? Could it be the humidity and heat (it’s been 80 degrees plus and extremely muggy for over a week and I don’t have AC in the room they’re in), or is my house infested with something?

I’d really hate to toss them, so if there’s anything I can do I’d love some advice! At the very least I’d love to know what happened so I can prevent it in the future.

For more context: I have two other pieces of taxidermy, a 20+ year old deer mount and a dog paw (came with the other paws) that are unaffected. I purchased the possum from the Oddities Expo. My partner gifted me the paws, they were all part of a large oddities blind box he got online.

Thanks!

Labor Hours?

I’m a new ish manager at a Panera cafe, and I was just curious if anyone’s noticed labor’s been kind of a mess? My last shift I ran a +19 and I cut half my staff and it still wasn’t going down. It was slower than the usual 40 orders per KDS, but it’s not like it was holiday dead. I was gobsmacked. That and after they changed the KDS to flash that red “GET HELP” timer, I feel like time’s are way unrealistic. Overall, it’s like absurd the pressure they put on each cafe to run exactly the same like. Restaurants in the same city aren’t a monolith, let alone the country. It’s my first time working for a corporation and a fast food place. I got hired a bit after manager transformation (I believe is what it was called?) and even from then to the now frozen breads it’s just been such a miserable job for me. I’m trying to boost my own morale for my team’s sake, but it’s been grueling.

Nail Growth

I know this question gets asked a TON, but my nails used to grow pretty quickly. I had a biting problem and that’s why I couldn’t keep long nails, but since getting over it, I cannot for the life of me to get them to grow. I’ve seen little to no change in like two months. What am I doing wrong???

EDIT
It’s worth mentioning I think that my hair is growing like crazy, so I don’t think it’s a vitamin issue?

Hello! I’ve been doing chainmail for a little over a year. I started with a gifted kit from Chainmail Joe, but I don’t like aluminum rings (though it was great to learn to weave).

So far I’ve purchased from The Ring Lord and Weave Got Maile. I’m looking almost for an in between of the two.

I LOVE the weight and feel of TRL, they’re so heavy and brutal, but I’ve found their cuts (no matter what I get) are consistently pretty sloppy. I don’t mind the dirtier, unfinished look, but something a little cleaner would be nice. My biggest issue is their cuts, that mixed with how difficult they are to work with makes my projects take forever.

I then switched to WGM (I’m MN based myself), but they are SO expensive. Obviously easier to work with and a much cleaner cut, but I don’t like how overly polished and delicate looking they are. I’m looking for something more… idk industrial feeling if that makes sense.

I’ve combed through this sub but I can’t really find recommendations with details about the feel/finish on the rings themselves. I’d ideally like nothing too expensive as I’m a hobbyist. I’m also finding I don’t like the finish of annealing, though it would be nice if somewhere does partial just to make them easier to work with (is that even a thing?). That being said, I’m not afraid of a tougher ring if the cuts are clean.

I’m waiting on a sample pack from Metal Designz to try out at the moment.

I know people can get protective over their suppliers (especially professionals), so thanks in advance for any recommendations or advice to point me in the right direction! 🖤

*edit* I’m looking for stainless steel, but the way!
