PLI vs Regular Term Insurance — Need Advice from Experienced People

I’m a bit confused about whether I should go for Postal Life Insurance (PLI) or a regular term insurance plan.

I understand that both serve different purposes, but I’m trying to figure out what makes more sense financially and practically for someone who wants good life insurance coverage for their family.

For those of you who have experience with insurance, could you please share your views on:

•PLI vs a private-company term insurance plan

•Premiums and coverage offered

•Claim settlement experience

•Reliability of PLI compared with private insurers

•Whether PLI's maturity/savings component is actually worth paying extra for

•What factors I should check before choosing a term plan

•Any disadvantages of choosing PLI instead of a pure term plan

I’d really appreciate honest opinions from people who have actually researched, purchased, or dealt with these policies.

If you had to choose today, would you go with PLI or a regular term plan, and why?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.🙏😊

Please Guide me with your expertise and experience in finance

I know this post will be too long but please bear with me as I really want your expertise and some suggestions to achieve my goals

Hello guys, I am 26y(M) born and brought up in tier-3 city ,came from a lower middle class background means don't have any generational wealth, not having any property like plots, farms or anything like that we have just a normal house that too was built some years ago, whatever resources my parents provided as per their capacity I tried to make most out of it and somehow did my graduation!

Immediately after graduation started preparing for government exams mainly for UPSC but meanwhile in 2023 I gave one of state government exam and apparently I cracked it and got posting in 2024 in tier-2 city (In state health department) which is around 60km from my hometown. After that the next year (i.e 2025) I got married to love of my life( she was my classmate in school time and in Covid time we started dating each other). She is 26F and IT engineer currently working at one of MNC's in Mumbai.

I neither took any loans nor borrowed money for my marriage.

We (me and my wife) want to achieve our financial freedom journey as soon as possible and we need your expertise, experience, insights to help achieve that goal

So the current situation is like this:-

-Currently My in hand salary is 60k (Net is 74k) and my wife's salary is 38k (Net is 41k)

Our expenses (in tier-2) include- Flat rent, gym fees, groceries, commute fares , petrol and miscellaneous around total 30K ( which we divide among us)

Our investments are : mine 14k gone to NPS (as per gov scheme), her 3k to EPF

-she started FD of 10k

-we bought/invested in some gold at the time of our marriage which is around 4 tola

-I started a SIP of mutual funds which is around 1k ( I know it is very minimal but I don't have any good guidance on which mutual funds are good and how much share of money one should invest, want to invest in equity also but face the same dilemma) my risk taking capacity is from moderate to high and don't want invest in intraday at all.

-Bought a health insurance for my family( parents and sister including me) and my wife has a cover from her company but I will be soon adding her to my insurance plan

This year planning to buy term insurance (plz guide me onto this also)

- Got emergency fund of around 1.2L as per our necessary expenses

- Got 1.3L in savings account

- my parents manage their all expenses (including my sister's) on their own as they lived in hometown. They do not force me to give my salary to them and they insist me and wife to build our own life

Now I have to just help my parents in marriage expenses for my sister which I will  do as my responsibility as a brother

Our goals :-  we both Want to buy a house or plot to built on our own (estimation amount required in tier-2 city is around 1Cr which is too expensive and in tier-3 it is very much affordable but I get confused for where to buy by thinking of my future generations as I want to give him/her best resources and opportunities)

- in coming years we are planning for baby so wanted to create some amount for their future also

- want to create passive income source or do some side business ( regarding this my wife already started going for baking classes I don't know from where she got interest in this but yeah she is very much determined and she also planned to start cloud kitchen)

Finally want to reach the corpus of 5Cr in the coming years to achieve financial freedom without impacting my current lifestyle!! so sir/madam please help me achieve my goals with your expertise and  experience I will be very thankful to all who give me any kind of insights!! 🙏🙏🙏
