What marketing strategy would you focus on first for a new Power BI consultancy?

I’m helping build a small data analytics consultancy focused on Power BI dashboards for US businesses.
Right now we basically have:
no clients yet
small budget
some technical skills and sample dashboards
willingness to do outreach/content/networking consistently
I recently read a long “client acquisition strategy playbook” that suggested things like:
LinkedIn outreach
Upwork
cold emails
CPA/MSP partnerships
webinars
LinkedIn content
niche positioning
local networking
free pilot offers
The problem is that it feels overwhelming trying to do everything at once.
If you were starting from zero today, what would you ACTUALLY focus on for the first 60–90 days?
I’m especially interested in:
what realistically works in 2026
what is overrated
what gives the fastest path to first paying clients
whether Upwork is worth it long-term
whether cold outreach still works
how important niche positioning really is early on
Would appreciate brutally honest advice from people who’ve actually built service businesses or consultancies.

What marketing strategy would realistically work in the USA for a new Power BI/Tableau analytics consultancy?

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to understand what marketing/client acquisition strategy would actually work in the USA for a new B2B data analytics consultancy.
Context:
We are a very early-stage consultancy offering Power BI and Tableau dashboard/reporting services. The target market is US businesses, especially small and mid-sized companies that need better reporting, dashboards, or business visibility.
We do not have many case studies yet, so credibility is one of the biggest challenges.
Some strategies we are considering:
Reaching out to the founder’s personal network
LinkedIn outreach to finance/operations decision-makers
Offering a free or low-cost pilot dashboard
Finding companies hiring Power BI/Tableau/data analyst roles and pitching a consulting alternative
Building sample dashboards as portfolio pieces
Partnering with CPA firms, IT consultants, or MSPs
Cold email campaigns
Posting educational content on LinkedIn
Upwork/Fiverr for early reviews and portfolio work
Running small LinkedIn ads later
My question is:
For the US market, which of these strategies would realistically work for getting the first 1–3 paying clients?
Also:
What would you avoid wasting time or money on?
Would US SMB owners actually respond to a Power BI/Tableau dashboard offer?
What type of offer would be most attractive: free audit, low-cost pilot, fixed-price dashboard, or monthly reporting support?
Which buyer should we target first: business owners, finance managers, operations managers, IT managers, or someone else?
What would make this service look trustworthy without existing case studies?
I’m not looking for theory or motivational advice. I’m looking for honest, practical feedback from people who have sold B2B services, hired consultants, or worked with US small/mid-sized businesses.
Thanks in advance.

Final year civil engineering student worried about AI replacing jobs — what should be my approach?

Hi everyone,
I am a final year civil engineering student from Bangladesh.
Recently I have been thinking a lot about AI and automation. It feels like many jobs are changing very fast, and honestly I am worried about my future career and salary. I think ai is goint to take most of the jobs.
I know civil engineering is more practical than many other fields, but I still feel that AI will affect areas like:
design work
drafting
estimation
planning
project management
office-based engineering tasks
So I wanted to ask experienced engineers and students:
What skills should I focus on to stay valuable in the AI era?
Which sectors of civil engineering are safest from automation?
Should I learn programming or AI tools?
Which countries currently have good opportunities for civil engineers?
What would you do if you were starting civil engineering again in 2026?
I do not want to become obsolete after graduation. I want to build a career that is stable, future-proof, and financially rewarding.
Any honest advice would really help.
Thanks.

Unable to remotely access employer’s PC from Bangladesh using NordVPN or Tailscale — connection keeps getting blocked

Hi everyone,
I am working remotely from Bangladesh and trying to access my employer’s PC remotely.
We tried using:
NordVPN
Tailscale
AnyDesk
Chrome Remote Desktop
But whenever we try VPN-based remote access, my connection or device seems to get blocked repeatedly and the remote connection fails.
My laptop:
Windows 11 Home
Employer’s device:
Windows 11 Pro
Problems:
Tailscale connection becomes unreachable
NordVPN setup does not work properly
Sometimes the employer’s PC appears offline
AnyDesk is extremely unstable/slow
Chrome Remote Desktop works somewhat better, but we still want a more stable long-term solution.
Could this be:
ISP restriction?
Firewall issue?
CGNAT problem?
Windows 11 Home limitation?
VPN conflict?
What would you recommend for stable remote access between Bangladesh and another country?
Thanks.
