Would Scottish terriers work with more sensitive dog breeds?

My partner and I currently have a beautiful and extremely sensitive and gentle female American Eskimo, not spayed.

We have a pretty good harmony in our apartment currently. The dog doesn't bark excessively, and she has matched our energy perfectly. We're both fairly introverted fairly low energy people, so I was very surprised to find out that a high energy breed like an Eskimo was able to adapt to our lifestyle.

She loves to snuggle up next to us, she's very much a Velcro dog. She gets a lot of her energy out in the evenings when we play with her for about 30 minutes just tossing toys around and sometimes doing some memory retention games or challenging her mind. She has been socialized but only with a limited number of dogs. An older dog that passed away a few months ago, that she would only see on the weekends every other week, and then a middle-aged dog that she got to interact with maybe a dozen times over the course of her first year. Oh. And a cat that she absolutely loves and gets to see 2 weeks out of the month. Other than that, she isn't the most socialized.

Still, other than barking and trying to approach other dogs outside occasionally, she hasn't really given us much behavior problems.

We have thought about adding another dog to our family, and Scottish terriers have always been a breed that I've personally been very interested in. The Eskimo was definitely more of my partner's vibe, but I've grown to love that dog. I've always wanted a Scottish terrier because I'm much more the type of guy that likes to play with a dog for like 20 minutes and then just have the dog kind of be there but not demand all of my attention all the time. My only issue would be the stubbornness, but the more independent streak of the Scottish terrier and the idea of having a dog that for once doesn't have separation anxiety is quite appealing.

Unfortunately, I have read that Scottish terriers are pretty much one of the worst pairings I could make with an American Eskimos, but I want to know just how true that is ...

I've read that they are much more independent, stubborn and not eager to please, much more difficult to train, and that they can be prone to barking. I have also read that a female Scottish terrier will try to push the more gentle dog for dominance as they get older.

Most of all though, I have heard that if you have two unspayed females in a relatively small space like an apartment, it is a recipe for disaster. They can fight, and injure each other.

So me and my partner are trying to figure out if we're going to be picking up a Scottish terrier or not ...

Currently we're thinking it's probably not a great idea, but I'd like to hear from Scottish terrier owners who may have experienced a similar situation with two breeds that are very different, and or with two unspayed female dogs.

Highway vibrations ... Is it normal?

First time taking the bike on the highway. 2024 shadow 750.

Generally comfortable at 50 to 60 mph. Once you get past 65 mph vibration starts to become quite intense. The stock seat is very uncomfortable after an hour.

I found myself having to stop for breaks every 60 minutes or so to stretch out my legs and my back but also most of all because of the vibration feeling in my hands. It would take like 20 minutes for my hands to stop feeling the vibration side effects.

Wondering if that's normal on these bikes or if my bike is acting up or more rumbly than normal.

Relatively new bike with less than 1000mi on odometer.

Hello!

I recently picked up a 2024 Honda Shadow Aero, and I'm looking for a couple of accessories to add to the bike.

Since it's been many years since my last time riding a motorcycle, I really want to get engine guards because I'm almost certain at some point I'm going to end up dropping the bike.

My previous bike also had saddlebags, and they were a lifesaver when I had to go to friends' houses or do a day trip.

Finally, least important but something I'd love to have is a windshield. I'm a relatively tall rider, so I'd like a windshield that could be useful for me. I'm around 6.1.

If anyone knows a shop or place where I can pick these things up in Southern California I would wear much appreciate it. Otherwise I am open to purchasing these online.

I'm not against doing the installation myself, but if there is a place where I can just buy them from a shop and have them do the installation then and there, I would also be open to that as a possibility.

Thank you!

Going to go look at different options tomorrow, and stuck between these two bikes.

Both bikes seem reliable and well-built. I have not sat on either bike, and have not ridden a motorcycle in about 13 or 14 years. The last time I rode a motorcycle it was on a v Star 250. I rode for about 3 years on that, highway and all. Yes it was terrifying with the bike screaming for its life at 70 mph.

I'm trying to get back into riding after a long long time off.

I have read that the Hondas are fairly reliable, although recently I've also been reading about snapping bolts when people are attempting to do oil changes? Is this a known issue?

I also came across a couple of posts about shifting to neutral when you're trying to get into second. Is that a common problem with these bikes?

Are there any other mechanical issues with the Honda Shadow bikes that I should keep under consideration?

I really want to customize the bike and add some saddlebags, sissy bar, engine guards, and a windshield, are these options typically available on the shadow? I basically want to make it a touring style looking bike.

Lastly, I'm fairly tall, would the shadow be a comfortable bike? I have read the Kawasaki is a bit more spacious for taller riders, but I'm also looking for a bike that's a little bit less heavy. The shadow seems to fit that criteria at least, and for me it has plenty of power.

Then again, I did live with a 250 for 3 years, but I got to say it was not comfortable back then, and I was also a lot younger back then ... So comfort is a little bit more of a priority for me these days, otherwise my trap muscle might seize up around my neck.

Thanks!
