YSPSFAGSIL is the least impressive in her catalogue, LYRICALLY.
I love olivia, my first ever album that I listened to in english is SOUR and it's one of my favourite albums of all time. I love n adore both the albums sour and guts so much.
My problem with this album is the lyrics. If u disagree give me a lyric from this album. I'll take sour, the least streamed song Hope ur ok, that is better than any of her lyrics from previous songs.
I listened to yspsfagsil with no expectations and thought it was good but the lyrics were so off and song writing seemed so not her?? In the sense that her metaphors used to complement the story and add context that is only through the metaphor to the song and are so meaningful but now it's like a scrap soup of metaphors adding nothing to the song.
"Hope he took his bad deal and made a royal flush"
This adds meaning and context to the song which wasn't implied already, she hopes he got out of the situation he was in. Which wasn't said before in the song.
"Address the letters, to the holes in my butterfly wings
Nothing's forever, nothing is as good as it seems
And when the clouds are ironed out
And the monsters creep into your house
And every door is hard to close"
This is full of metaphors, so beautiful and clever. Also none of the context of these metaphors are a new addition to the song.
But in yspsfagsil, the metaphors are so redundant. Says the same thing again and again. The imagery is too much, too different, too many in the same song. Maggots for brains, zombie in my body, dirty, rotten, train off the track. If all these are used and the song was longer and more lyric and context heavy, it would've worked so good, but there's nothing in it, no context nothing more is being said in the song other than when he's not around i do nothing i feel like a couch potato.
The reviews were so bizarre??? I think this is her weakest lyrical album????? Literally her debut album has so many good lyrics?? I was like.. are we listening to the same album?? Did we listen to the same album?? Cuz sour and guts are way better lyrically.
I fking hate "the songwriting is so mature" what?? I don't understand what people mean by it. What is mature songwriting?? Themes can be mature, the concept can be mature.. songwriting???
My least favorite album of hers, my most favourite is what's wrong with me (quirky production) and my least favorite is honeybee (cringe lyrics)
Melodies and production were good for the most part except for some.
