Stalling during test, do I move to automatic?
Hi, in lessons and in practice I’m a pretty good driver. I’ve done a few pretests, have passed all of them and get a decent bit of practice driving around in my own car day to day. My issue is test anxiety. I’ve sat 2 tests and in both of them I have had major issues with stalling the car. I sat my first test in my instructors car which I had never stalled before and I couldn’t complete the full test as every time I tried to start off (including on flat surfaces) I stalled. The tester actually thought there was an issue with the automatic handbrake due to how bad it was. I drove home from that test in my own car with no issues. I continuously drove for a few months before my second test. I sat my second test last week (but instead in my own car) and the exact same thing happened. Every time I had to start the car I stalled a minimum of 4 or 5 times. Since then I’ve started getting very nervous starting and stopping while out driving day to day. I’m not sure what to do. My instructor was shocked both times I failed and said he has never seen anything like it.
Should I give up and move to automatic? Any advice?
