Mackall 45?

Saw this in their most recent email. Anyone have any idea what to expect? Material on the upper looks different but I’m curious if anyone’s heard anything.

I’m hoping this isn’t completely replacing their current Mackall model - they are quite literally the best shoe I’ve ever worn for daily life and rucking.

Noble Team - miniatures and screenshots side by side collaboration

Introducing Noble Team from Halo: Reach! @spartanambrose_051 and I teamed up again to create another awesome collaboration. He used Reach’s theater mode to screenshot all the Noble members so we could place their digital versions alongside miniature versions I painted.

Huge thanks to spartanambrose_051 for all his work in getting quality screenshots of these timeless armor sets and for helping make this post possible - he posts some of the best Halo armor set renders out there, and bringing 16 year old armor designs into the modern era at such high quality is a testament to that.

Stay tuned tomorrow for a group photo of the Noble Team miniatures and Thursday for their painting guides! In the meantime you can find more of my Halo guides and Ambrose’s armor sets on IG:

Mantic Games and Halo Studios announce continued partnership

I’m seeing from a few sources (ICV2, Crabbok, Gaming Trend) that Mantic has successfully extended their Halo license. Originally in 2024 I remember Ronnie saying the initial agreement was for 5 years, so this is welcome news.

Of note from the article: “Mantic Games and Halo Studios have confirmed that their Halo tabletop license has been extended to cover years of future releases across multiple games”.

It’ll be exciting to see where this goes. It opens the door to a larger scale ground combat game that combines squads of FP minis alongside vehicles in 40k size battles as well as things like space combat or an RPG. Space and RPGs don’t interest me much, but I’m curious to hear what others think. What potential Halo games do YOU want to see from Mantic?

Fireteam Orion + Paint Guide

Fireteam Orion has entered the battle! These Spartan IVs are named after their predecessors from the Orion Project, humanity's initial attempt at creating super soldiers that led to the eventual creation of the Spartan program.

I went with a more standard green color rather than the commonly seen brighter colors of Spartan IVs. I like the military, subdued look more and think it fits the ruined streets of New Mombasa well. I didn't 100% nail the highlight color, but I'll adjust in the future and find that perfect green... It will be useful for a more Noble cause in the future...

What I love, don’t love and hope for in the UNSC Marines box

What I love:
- Marines coming to FP!
-Marines carrying power weapons (sniper and rocket)
- Introduction of a medic unit into the game
- Having a dedicated Marine leader (Corporal)
- A character never seen on screen in a video game coming to Flashpoint (Spartan Horvath), which should be a good sign for other book characters to come to FP in the future (Spartan Kurt Ambrose, Spartan IIIs in SPI Armor etc.)

What I don’t love:
- A Marine carrying a pulse carbine. I’d much rather preferred the battle line/core of the UNSC to be carrying their standard issue weapons, like swapping the pulse carbine for a bandit.
- I don’t have any connection to Horvath and would have preferred a dedicated/named Marine instead. Not Johnson, since he wasn’t on Zeta Halo, but any named Marine that was there.
- I’m not a fan of the Marine sculpt with the BR with both his arms out to the side like he’s been suddenly startled. These are the UNSC’s finest, they react to incoming fire by returning fire, not by stopping in place and getting startled.
- One Marine description lists that he has an MA5B, but the sculpted weapon looks 99.9% like an MA40 (red arrow in the photo). Hopefully this is a description error and not carried over onto the unit card.
- I’m concerned about the level of detail that will possible in single piece PVC sculpts for such small Marines. The display minis look nice and crisp, but those are resin prototypes (based on what Mantic had previously said) so those details are far crisper than what we can expect in our boxes.
- Price. €70 for 13 single pose, PVC, non-customizable minis is €5.38 per mini. AMG’s Stormtroopers in hard plastic, multi-part kits are €5.45 per mini. WH Cadian Shock Troops in customizable, multi part hard plastic are €4.20 per mini. The Marines are on the high end of the market price but are significantly lower quality sculpts with zero customization options.

What I hope for:
- Rules for a UNSC Marine detachment being included inside the box. If you buy the minis, you should have access to all base stat/unit cards and anyspecial detachment rules/cards and not have to pay for a supplementary PDF to play the minis in the box in what’s likely to be their strongest list format (due to bonus detachment rules and abilities).
- Firefight game mode (the wave defense from the video games) rules being included in the Battle for Zeta Halo booklet that comes in the box

What are y’all loving, not loving or hoping for?

What would you want from a narrative campaign book?

With Ronnie/Mantic’s latest IG video saying this Friday is “not just new releases, there’s lots more” it made me think that there’s a possibility of a narrative campaign book or document that could be in the horizon. Their marketing also seems to be alluding to something bigger with “The Battle For Zeta Halo”, so I think a campaign system is a possibility for this Friday.

What would you guys want from a campaign book? Zeta Halo would be a great start and I’d definitely want it expanded to other events in the universe down the road, namely New Mombasa and the events of CE.

Would you want it in hardcover or digital only?

Spartan and recon being discontinued? (Speculation)

On the Mantic site the Spartan edition and war games are both currently unavailable. The Recon edition isn’t currently listed on the site (unless I’m missing it).

Makes me wonder - will the new entry points Mantic mentioned in their recent article include a replacement for one or all of the Spartan, Recon or War Games products? I’m thinking this is more likely regarding Recon since it’s entirely unlisted on the Mantic site.

What would you guys want to see in terms of new entry points?

Faction Preference Polling Results & Analysis

After a long wait, I’ve compiled and completed some statistical tests on the faction preference polls I ran a couple months ago (see my profile for the original polls).

The first 2 photos show the raw results and the next 5 show the analysis and conclusions. For those who don’t want to read the technical stuff, here’s a TLDR:

-Faction preference results show two “Tiers” of purchasing preference. Tier 1 includes Covenant, Swords of Sanghelios and The Flood. Tier 2 includes Insurrectionists and Prometheans.

-Respondents were significantly more interested in purchasingTier 1 factions than Tier 2 factions.

-The sample size (number of respondents) was insufficient to draw solid conclusions within Tiers regarding which faction players were most or least likely to purchase. Statistically speaking, players are equally likely to purchase Covenant, Swords of Sanghelios and the Flood. Same concept between Insurrectionists and Prometheans.

-Since Covenant and Swords of Sanghelios had nearly statistically identical results and share many in-universe similarities, I ran a 6th bonus poll to assess player preference when compared head to head. Respondents were significantly more interested in purchasing Covenant than Swords of Sanghelios if only one faction could be introduced to the game. I did not do this for the Flood since it varies so much from the other Tier 1 factions in terms of in-universe lore and style.

Some key limitations regarding this polling:

-Poll respondents were from only this subreddit and not the greater flashpoint community. Therefore these results are a convenience sample rather than a true sampling of the entire player base.

-Each poll was independent, so we can’t track individual respondents purchase preferences across polls.

Hope this is fun for ya’ll to read. It was fun for me to collect and analyze the data and I think it speaks for itself in many ways, even if it is a convenience sample.
