This is like therapy

Without trauma dumping, I recently had a drastic change of circumstances in which a round the world cycle trip was ended due to a car accident and I’ve spent the last week at home slowly healing from my injuries. One of the things I would fantasise about whilst being on the road for months was playing Halo and just switching my brain off.

Now that my mobility is limited for a while I jumped into halo flashpoint as something creative to paint up whilst slowly getting better. It’s done absolute wonders for my mental health. I haven’t painted a miniature in years and a fractured wrist means my hands a bit unsteady at the moment but I’ve loved every minute of it.

On a side note, if anyone’s in the north west of England and knows of any communities to play in, please do let me know!

Nothing else to add other than positivity and appreciation for what to me anyway, seems like one of the most positive online communities in tabletop gaming.

Finally finished my first Fire team

After finishing the brawler about a year ago, I put this fire team on pause for a long time. Working on different projects and overall improving my painting skills, I finally decided to finish this somewhat forgotten project. I forgot how "gummy" some of the details on this first few sculpts were. They needed some good work on them before even putting paint on them (and even after). The deadeye's right back leg armor was completely misshapen and I didn't notice it until I had put some good hours on him so I had to free hand the details. From a far it looks fine, but once you really look into it you can notice that they is almost not coherent texture on that part of the model. However, I'm really happy with how these guys turned out; they really helped me improvise on the fly and improve my brush control and free handing skills. I'll probably tweak the deadeye's camo to make it a little more readable but besides that this fire team is done. Unto the next!

What random or common objects have you used as terrain in a game of Flashpoint?

I love how modular the game is, and I've even started casually looking for small containers and other 3x3x3" objects when I'm out at stores.

I've used paint stirring sticks as long bridges to somewhat recreate the Narrows map, and that was a really fun game (lots of knockback/fall damage calculation), and I know that a Nintendo Gamecube is roughly 6x6x6", fitting decently onto a 2x2 square.

Legos/MEGA are pretty versatile and can make all sorts of themed scenery, but what else have you guys found that also works well?

New to the hobby!

Hey friends! I just started getting into this game. I bought the box when it released back in 2024. I just opened it last week and decided I wanted to try my hand at painting (im not very artsy)

After watching hours of paint vidz while I waited for my paints to come. I finally got to try and omg it was terrifying!

But here are my first two models ever! I used the Army painter speed paint after priming totally white. I had some citadel shade color a friend let me borrow called agrax earthshade buts thats it!

My hand slipped on the blue guy when adding the wash can ya tell! I went way lighter on the wash with my red spartan. I still very much like them and now just need to learn how to base!

If you have any tips you think i might like as i start into this journey let me know! Thank you and i look forward to being part of the community!

People keep telling me these WIPs are different colours?!

I mean they're both white and gold, and I am 100% certain that I used the same black and blue paints but People keep telling me that they're different colours! Can someone tell me that I am right and they're wrong?!

Assault/melee/respawn question

So this has come up a few times-

1.) If you respawn into a cube with an enemy model in it, do you trigger assault? Do you get the extra 2 dice as if you did the long action?

2.) when respawning, if an enemy is within range of your short action walk on and you move into their square do you get to trigger an assault?

3.) can you choose shoot as short action then short move into melee?

I was under the impression you only got to trigger assaults from either a long action or getting imploded into the same cube as an enemy but wanted clarification since I’ve seen it done both ways. Thanks in advance!

Hierarchy of Operations

Is there a chart somewhere that details the order of operations for grenade/explosive weapons. Every time I play (usually with new players) it takes ages to figure out what order you’re supposed to apply Grenade, blast, sticky, frag, etc. Is there a quick reference guide somewhere maybe? Any help is greatly appreciated.

New to the Hobby

Been a fan of Halo since Combat Evolved dropped back in 2001 and been into board gaming all my life as well, so I figured I have to give flashpoint a try. I've ADORED the Elites since I was a kid and I'm wanting to create an Elite centric army; Is that possible? If so, is it a good idea?
