Really frustrated as a newly qualified CMA. The website has almost no vacancy for US CMA qualification. Are they seriously ragebaiting us by posting CA or other vacancies only?
What is IMA india doing other than promoting their course amongst college students?
I attended the student leadership conference of IMA held in Chennai, India on 25th April. The venue was a 5 star hotel called radisson blu, beautiful property, good location. It was supposed to be a full day event with a convocation scheduled at the end. They had invited a really good set of panelists and experts to speak at the event.
The hall would've had a maximum capacity of 800 people, but someone from IMA India had a genius idea of inviting college students(non ima members) from various reputed colleges in Chennai. So now the hall held almost double its capacity with a lot of people standing for half the event. It got really congested, more chairs were brought in, but not enough. There was a registration link for the participants, but they didn't count the numbers? Or they allowed the college students without registration.
The event was supposed to be insightful and fun for the ima members and cma students, but became a hang out spot for young college students. They were constantly chatting amongst themselves, creating noise and disturbing everyone in the hall. The speakers were clearly frustrated but helpless as the college students were in majority. Vinit Pawar and other senior members constantly tried to silence the room but they failed. My fellow members and I were not able to listen to speakers amidst the noise of chatters, were not able to sit peacefully or take anything from the event.
The college students left after having the complimentary lunch(surprise-surprise) and clicking pics, but by that time everyone was exhausted and had lost the mood to enjoy the event. There was no place to even stand for having lunch, it was really tiring.
IMA India's management with the crowd and set up was a huge FAILURE. It's a shame for IMA. I have attended various CPE events in my city's chapter which were well organised and well managed. But this event in Chennai completely disappointed me. I would probably never attend another event.
TLDR: IMA SLC was a huge management failure with the crowd and capacity. Event turning into a 'fish market'. Actual members were not able to participate due to the noisy environment. No planning for seating arrangements or for lunch provision.
