Thomas, Percy, and who comes next? The third member of the main Trio for the Thomas series has changed over the years right now it’s Rosie (but we haven’t seen their relationship as a trio yet so she’s not an option right now).

The original third member was Toby he slept at Farquhar with Thomas and Percy in RWS and in the classic series thus earning his spot as the third member the color dynamic was (BGB) Blue (Thomas) Green (Percy) and brown (Toby).

Then after Farquhar sheds stopped being a thing and the “Steam Team” (Formerly the “Eight famous engines”) concept was brought back in season 8 Toby was swapped out for James as Red is a more vibrant and eye-catching color than Brown to executives at-least (although Toby remained a main character/steam team member) the color dynamic was now (BGR) Blue (Thomas) Green (Percy and Red (James).

This remained the main trio for several years until season 22 to promote BWBA/big world big adventures and its new diversity character (Nia) not only did they put her in the main cast/steam team replacing Edward but they also put her in the main trio replacing James (although just like Toby James remained a main character) now the color dynamic was (BGO) Blue (Thomas) Green (Percy) and orange (Nia) and this was the main trio from 2018-2025.

And now the third member is being changed again Nia is being swapped out for Rosie let’s see how her relationship with Thomas and Percy will be.

Last month I made a post called “Why are people excited about this” in which I was talking about the new 2026 series that’s coming out one month from now (time really does fly) and how I don’t get why people are so excited about it (and I got some many people calling me overly-negative) but my opinions have now changed after I heard that video of Mattel employees doing some bored meeting conference or whatever it seems like Mattel is actually trying to fix the franchise they said they’re trying keep the “classic elements” of the franchise while also updating it for today’s kids they also are going back to the more slower-pasted traditional classic era/RWS type of Thomas story telling and that actually seems like a step in the right direction and it’s made me more hopeful for the reboot.

I do have a few complaints however as well

1. I still don’t like the bouncing.

This was a complaint I had in my previous post about the new show…….look I know bouncing has been a staple of the franchise since 2017 but I STILL don’t like it and STILL can’t get used to it it’s just so weird seeing heavy metal steam engines bounce and gesture around as if their made of jello it’s okay in AEG or in musical numbers but just a casual episode no it looks weird but if you like the bouncing I respect your opinion.

2. Edward’s role.

I know I keep talking about Edward but I can’t stop until he gets a bigger role beyond a fucking BACKGROUND cameo where you have to zoom-in in order to see him he is one of my favorite characters alongside Gordon Henry James and Thomas himself and plus he’s Awdry’s first character I’m not saying he has to be a main character again in-fact some people even prefer Edward as a side character but there’s a difference between a side character and a background character and it seems like Edward is going to be a background character again just like in AEG and BWBA he’s the only character that was announced in the new series that doesn’t have an official render fucking WHIFF WHIFF!!! Has an official render before Edward WHY!?

Anyway besides those two complaints the series looks like it might actually be good and I was wrong about what I said in my previous post.

We all know that the official show removed Edward and Henry but if you were a Mattel executive or the fatt controller which member or members would you remove (and who would you replace them with).

For me personally I would remove Nia and Emily in my opinion they don’t look like main characters at all even though Rebecca replaced Henry at least she somewhat fits in with the rest of the cast but Nia and Emily don’t at all. (If you would like a more in-depth explanation just ask).

I just found out that around six years ago someone wrote a funeral-like song about Edward and Henry leaving the steam team throughout the entirety of BWBA’s existence and all the Edward and Henry tribute posts and Nia and Rebecca hate posts I’ve never heard of this one.
