today im happy to announce we've officially added deezer fallback!

what this means: 99% of "Could not find Audio Source" issues should be gone now, as deezer has a humongus library of songs, more then tidal actually, and if amazon music NOR qobuz have the song then deezer should have the song mostly.

this also means, in the case of amazon music AND qobuz blocks, we will still have deezer (which is much more lax about ripping, proven time and time again by the community for years)

this was overdue for months (ever since we switched to qobuz) and im so glad weve finally finished it, amount of missing songs in monochrome just decreased by ATLEAST 80%.

one small downside (and honestly only audiophiles will even notice), deezer maxes out at 16-bit lossless. so the only time this even matters is when a Hi-res song falls back to deezer specifically, in which case youll get 16-bit lossless instead of the full Hi-res version (still totally CD-quality lossless, so it still sounds great). to be clear though, this doesnt affect most users, NOR even most songs, it only happens when a song is both Hi-res AND missing from amazon music and qobuz at the same time, which is pretty rare, and most missing songs werent Hi-res to begin with anyway. so for the average listener nothing really changes. and for the audiophiles that do care, weve added a little warning that pops up whenever a Hi-res track falls back to deezer, so youll always know.

really hope this update brings back alot of old users, since a few users left monochrome due to the library shrinking by quite a bit with the qobuz switch, but deezer should fix it.

Hey guys, Samidy (the developer of monochrome) here, i just wanted to make this quick post to let you guys know monochrome is back online, still the same monochrome just as before the shutdown!

at first, we really wanted to shutdown monochrome, esp with the tidal crackdowns, however, when we DID decide to shut it down, oh so conveniently, 2 things happened:

1. we thought about it more and realized we didnt want to shutdown. (why we tried the legal bring your own music app BS)
2. squid.wtf found a method not to be blocked by qobuz (allowing us to keep monochrome, ahem, a sailing app)

so we got to work on making, basically, "tidal, but its actually qobuz". we use tidal for everything BUT the songs themselves (we still have access to their API) and for the song files themselves, we use qobuz (we match by ISRC fyi)

and now, monochromes back, with (hopefully) no more crack downs!

please note these though:
- not all tracks might be available, qobuz has MOST songs tidal has, but key word most, not all sadly, some songs might not play.
- qobuz does NOT offer music videos, so we had to remove that feature.
- also, qobuz does not offer dolby atmos, so we had to remove that too.
i hope you guys can keep enjoying mono with these constraints
