Well, that was a little pricey!

Just over 11 weeks post-op pour a knee replacement. I’ve been doing outpatient PT twice a week for maybe the last nine weeks. At the end of each session, the therapist asked if I would like an ice pack on my knee before I leave, and I’d say yes if I was going to the store instead of straight home. Today I started wondering about not having gotten a bill for my PT, went online, and discovered a big rolling bill that I guess won’t drop until after I’m done on Monday; it listed five “Pt Hot/Cold Pk Therapist/Pta Only” at $30 each. Yes, most of it is going to be covered by insurance, but still…

The most embarrassing part is that I own an insulated backpack that I use to carry my own ice pack and some frozen water bottles when I go to my kids’ Little League games. I can ice up a couple of times during a game. Once or twice I thought about packing it to take with me to PT, but why should I bother if they are providing 15 minutes of ice before I leave. Ouch!

Fake musical instruments for cosplay

I like to watch steampunk YouTube videos, mostly for background music but also to get costume ideas. I have seen some where the AI performers are playing a flute, violin, or something and would like to do something similar. However I never learned to play any
musical instruments (thanks, mom and dad!) so I’m wondering if anyone knows of any props that I could hide a music player in. It would not have to resemble a real, practical instrument. Thanks!

Pain management

I am trying to decide between two courses of action.

I had my TKR 30 days ago. I was initially prescribed 5 mg of oxycodone every four hours and 650 mg of acetaminophen every six hours. I am now taking an oxycodone every 12 hours while keeping the same schedule for the acetaminophen. However the pain starts ramping up eight or nine hours after taking the oxycodone. I I could take an oxycodone every eight hours but today I noticed my brain feeling a little foggy for an hour or two after both times that I took it today. So I’m thinking about moving to half of a tablet every eight hours, at least until I finish my most recent refill.

I have an ice machine set up in my bedroom, allowing me to do the “flat on my back“ PT exercises before I get out of bed in the morning, and use the ice machine immediately afterwards. I repeat the process before dinner. The other exercises are done in the family room, which is down the hall. The family room also has a TV and a recliner but the bedroom does not, which means I tend not to use the ice machine much the rest of the day. When I do stop taking the oxycodone, I will likely move the ice machine back-and-forth between the rooms, but it’s a bit of a hassle.

I plan to call my care team on Monday morning and get their opinion, but does anyone here have any thoughts they could share? Thanks!
