Stella

My sweet baby is taking a liking to her new home. She’s already taking treats from me and being brave enough to sniff my hand. I’m so proud of her!!!

Artemis is still shy, it’ll probably take her longer to get use to me. That’s okay, I’m patient.

Bonding update and a new mouse!

I got a new mouse, her name is Stella (last photo), and now Bella is being much kinder to Artemis. Having them in trios seemed to perfectly balance things out and she’s no longer being a bully. Everyone is getting along. 🥰

Do I need to rehome my mice?

This is truly a devastating post to make after my last one about bonding…

Money has been tight recently, way more tight than I’d like. I’ve been able to care for my mice and make it work, paycheck to paycheck, but now two of my mice are showing health concerns. Bella with her accidental fall in the water bowl, worry she might’ve inhaled water, and joe Frodo with his sudden balding.

I JUST got a new mouse so my other female won’t be lonely anymore and I was planning to get Frodo fixed soon so he could be with them as well. But now with these sudden health concerns, I’m going to likely have no choice but to return my new female and rehome my other two.

I’ve had them for so long, the least thing I want to do is give them up but I’m stressing so badly financially now with these two new problems and I just don’t think I can do it anymore.

Is this the time I need to consider giving my mice away?

New mouse being bullied

I got a new mouse, her name is Artemis (second image), and Bella (first) is being mean to her and I’m not sure what to do.

Bella is 2 and my new girl isn’t a year yet. Shes still young. I took the time to socialise them, did everything I was supposed to do, but the moment I put them both in the new clean tank once it appeared they were getting along, Bella starts biting and chasing her.
There’s no blood, but Artemis’s little squeaks is making me feel awful and I worry Bella might actually hurt her. I’ve never had to introduce mice before until now because my first mice were paired together from the start.

Do I need to house Artemis alone tonight and try again? I worry Bella would rather be alone (because her old friend passed and she’s been alone for a bit) and I have to get another mouse for my new girl.

I have them separate right now just to be safe.
