Mouse House Destroyed? Did she eat it?

I’ve had my adorable babygirl Finley since April. I got her this house at that time and it was always intact. I only noticed this morning that there’s basically an entire back door?? I’m so confused. I didn’t even think it was possible for her to bite this. There are no remnants of the house in her bedding, so I am so very confused.. did she actually eat it or chew it? Should I remove this house? Is it unsafe for her? I genuinely don’t know what happened, because this is a HUGE chunk and the house was fine a week ago. Please help..

releasing wild mice?

my mice are about 4 weeks old to my knowledge, i got them when their eyes were closed and have been feeding them milk by syringe for weeks now. the other morning the decided they are scared of me, one of them will no longer drink milk. they are extremely fast and jump out of my hands now. my mom is urging me to release them into the wild but i'm so scared that they won't know how to survive out there. they've been being hand fed for a few weeks now and were rescued from a construction site where the mother and one sibling were killed. will they be able to live a happy life inside? they are showing their wild side now. ( this pic is almost a week old )

Found this Little mice

I found this little mouse while walking my dog, and I went back later to bring it some water and a bit of cheese (I know they’re not really supposed to have that).
When I watched it for a bit, I noticed it was a little unsteady on its feet, so I grabbed the transport box from my old hamster and gave it some hamster food, a bit of water, and some shredded paper towels.
Tomorrow, I’m planning to release it in a safe environment (there are a lot of cats around here).
How would you go about this, and would you even have helped it at all? 😅

Help

So me and my partner found an almost newborn mouse outside on the 3rd of July.

So, before we did anything drastic, we tried to lure the mom back to the baby with baby mice sounds and food.

She never came.

So now, we waited and gave it pedialite (since we didn’t know how long since it had eaten) and now giving it kitten formula and even help it use the bathroom.

Can anyone tell us how old he is? And any other advice you might have?

Attached is photos and f Jerry (we found out it was a boy and decided why not)

is it possible my mouse killed her cage mates on purpose?

I had two mice who I believe were sisters. They were completely healthy and happy. The rescue I got them from told me they had two neutered males ready to bond with my girls. They settled in well and all four of them seemed happy. A couple weeks after getting the boys, my two girls got sick. I took them to the vet and they gave me eye ointment and antibiotics. One of the girls didn’t get past the first dose of medication, she passed away that night. My other girl hated taking her meds but she made a really quick recovery. It was just the baby boys and her now. A few days later I walked into my room and one of the boys had passed. I was flabbergasted because he didn’t show signs of illness at all. The other boy started looking pretty weak a few days later and I gave him antibiotics for a little bit. He got so much better and they looked healthy and happy. Then out of nowhere, even after having gotten better, my sweet boy passed. The only living mouse remaining is patient zero, the first girl to get sick and the only one to overcome it (with barely any medicine because she refused to take it). I was worried being alone was going to affect her, but she’s the happiest I’ve ever seen her. She’s more affectionate, playful, cuddly, and generally joyful. Is it possible she got rid of her roommates on purpose (kinda)?

I think she got sick from the stress of having two new guys in her space. It’s worth mentioning that the rescue took my girls in to bond them with the boys and they spent a few days out of their house. I was hesitant to let them take them, but I had never bonded mice and they reassured me that it would be better for them to take care of it. I think these changes definitely influenced their mood negatively. Either she got her sister sick or her sister also got sick from the stress. After she passed, my theory is that my little survivor started bullying her newfound enemies until they got so stressed they couldn’t take it anymore. I didn’t see any of this except for one time, when there were only her and one boy remaining, I saw her kinda jump at him. It might’ve been grooming, but it looked a little too aggressive. He got a little scratch by his eye, and I think she might’ve been doing that. Is this possible? She’s genuinely the happiest I’ve ever seen her now that she’s an only child, and I can’t help but think she might be a bit of a serial killer. I love her as she is, psychopathy and all.

Other rodents and mice?

I have been thinking about getting another group of rodents but I don't know which rodents I can have in the same room as my mouse (soon mice) I was thinking gerbils or something like that but I can't find any information if they can be held in the same room (different cages duh) so I'm asking here what kind of animal could fit

List of rodents I've been considering:

Gerbils (can't find info on)

(Dwarf/mini) Hamster (haven't looked yet)

Rats (as long as they can't reach the mice it seems fine but it can stress the mice out)

Chinchillas (haven't looked yet)

Ferrets (not positive)

Degus (haven't looked yet)

Bunny (doubt it + don't have enough room)

Some may not be rodents I'm not that well versed in animal categories

Is she uncomfortable?

Please ignore my hair dyed hands and their weird popsicle house🥲 but this baby bites me a lot!!! Her sisters don’t at all, not even when startled, so is there a chance there’s something wrong with her, like she’s in pain?

To note she’s not very shy. She has no issues with me grabbing or picking her up and yes she does eat from my hand occasionally, but no more than the others do.

Also I was more quick and almost aggressive here to show the severity. I’m obviously never this jumpy or quick with them usually

Idk what to tag this but I have no one to talk to about this with because no one loves mice besides me in my area 😢

2.5 years ago, I was called cruel for keeping three male mice together. Happy Birthday! They are now 3 years old and still happily bonded.

Hi everyone,

A little over two and a half years ago, I adopted a trio of male mice from my local Humane Society. They were littermates, brothers, and tightly bonded. When I posted about them, the reaction I got from the community was incredibly harsh. People told me I was a horrible, cruel owner, that it was a guaranteed death sentence, and that I needed to separate them immediately.

The Humane Society had specifically refused to split them up because of how strong their bond was. I had a choice to make: listen to the aggressive comments online, or trust the professionals at the rescue who actually knew my mice.

I chose to trust the Humane Society, and all I can think now is: thank god I didn't listen to the internet.

Today, all three brothers are alive, over 3 years old, and still living together peacefully. They have never had a fallout. They have spent their entire extraordinarily long lives keeping each other company.

I understand why the "never house males together" rule exists, and I know territorial aggression is a very real danger for unbonded males. But it is not an absolute, black-and-white rule. Bonded littermates who have never been separated are the exception, and tearing apart a happy family just to satisfy a rigid online rule would have robbed them of years of enrichment and comfort.

I’m posting this as a success story, and as a reminder that nuance exists in pet care. Sometimes, the rescue workers know exactly what they are doing. If you have a peacefully bonded group of brothers, don't let online panic pressure you into breaking their hearts.

Here’s to my three old men!

I’ve been so nervous about introducing 2 new mice to my albino girl who has been alone for 6 months. I put them together 24 hours ago:

Why do my mice nibble me?

So I have two mice both female and for some reason they will just nibble my nails or the edges of my fingers or the ends of my hair when they can. Ones more gentle and it doesn’t hurt but the other one get carried away and ends up nipping me. Why do they do this? Or how can I get one of them to stop nipping so hard?

house mouse situation update 2...

not good. everyone - my family, thought it was gone. it was not.
i have a clear fucking video of it because, i didnt even fucking believe it when i saw it..

it climbed up my bed (didnt hear it) except i saw a BLACK FLUFF run past my pillows on my right; and MY mouse JUST ran under my robe on top of me. i panicked immediately since they were both now on the bed; i heard the mouses tail hitting the wall behind my pillow that he ran under, i stand up essentially yelling for my mouse, no movement, no noise.

i lift up my robe and grab my mouse so fucking quick, put him in the cage, hes super confused.
please keep in mind my mouse is a male for future information!

the mouse pops its head out of my pillow against the wall before running behind my actual pillows (next to my cage btw.), after i put my mouse away the mouse was behind my pillow, staring down at my mouse cage. i tried being gentle and tried to coerce it to come to me but it ran back down the corner of my bed. i didnt see it for a minute or two, so i went to see if my mum was up - she wasnt its 1am, came back and the mouse was casually on my floor before running back under my bed.

i call my friend, and i see in the mirror...
the fucking black mouse, ON TOP OF MY MOUSES CAGE. i think this is a good thing because it has no where to go, except it JUMPS onto my bed, hid for a bit, i went back; i hear scruffling of the cage, i look back and the mouse is there again.

except, my mouse is under. fighting back through the cage.

this is when this got serious and i now plan on either killing it, if it comes to that; and ripping my entire room apart in the morning and getting it the fuck out of here.

i dont care about a mouse in my room; until it (im assuming its a male considering the situation) tries to attack my mouse in HIS cage.

these are videos of after i put a towel on his cage so they cant get in contact with eachother, but the mouse is seriously way too confident to be doing all of this; to comfortably run around on my bed - marked by my mouse, and try to literally attack my mouse.. wtf

btw; i cant find it. i think its eaten into the bottom of my bed and is sleeping inside of it. i actually do feel really fucking bad for it, because it shouldnt live like this, and in so much fear, but it doesnt know i just wanted to help it. i just cant get past him attacking my mouse.

btw, im terrified for my mouse as much as i would believe anyone is; he is okay, i do not know if the other mouse holds any parasites or anything, so thats a concern. but its 5am suns almost rising, im not sleeping incase of anything; im just so fucking worried for my mouse. and also... i just want my life back lol. i love chilling in bed with my mouse watching a show, not worried if the "other mouse" (ffs) is waiting to attack him or something.

sorry this is super long. im just lost, and i seriously cant catch it; its way too fast for me.
and for some reason it put all 6 videos together idk how to fix.

All settled in

Thank you to everyone who gave me tips and advice for my unexpected mice. Bait and Snacrifice are getting alone swimmingly. While we’re still working towards hand taming, the whole family gets a ton of enjoyment just from watching them being the cute little fuzzballs they are.

update!!

after the three craziest months of my life, i finally was able to purchase and set up a new cage for butters!! its literally 3x bigger than his old one. i’m almost worried he’ll be scared and lonely in such a huge ass cage. anyways, he seems really happy exploring so far! I have sprays and a new water bottle in the mail, ive been making enrichment toys with cardboard and fruits/veggies and hes been very happy! im going to start letting him outside the cage in a playpen in my room (not the rest of the house cause my cat and dog). does anyone have any other suggestions for his new house?? does he need a friend?

Does this size look right?

Just picked up my first ever mice today. It’s thrilling to watch them explore everything I’ve set up for them, but I’d like a second take on the wheel size. Does it look okay?

Testing out some markers :D (I want to draw your mouse)

Having some fun with a new marker set, and one of my favorite things to do as quick doodles is little blob mice. Needed some new subjects, so figured I’d come here and see if there are any volunteers. I will draw your little guy in Situations. A quick sketch of my little guys included.

Is this a good setup? Constructive criticism welcome!

One female mouse, yes ik they shouldn’t live alone but she had a traumatic experience and has since become aggressive towards other mice. I tried bonding her 4 diff times with 6 different mice, nothing worked and she seems a lot happier alone (not hiding constantly and finally making nests/gaining weight).

No water bottle in this photo bc this was right after I cleaned the tank. Also the fabric on the outside of the tank was wrapped around 3 sides but it keeps falling down lol.

The tank size is a 50gal tank 36”L 18”W and 18”H, the bedding is about 7” deep.
The wheel is a 9” silent runner. The woods in the tank are mopani wood, cork logs, cholla wood, and apple wood sticks. Substrates are aspen, paper, Timothy hay, and dry sphagnum moss. Those rocks are ones I grabbed from my backyard, I cleaned them real well ofc. There are different sprays in there and she eats Mazuri mouse pellets + gets a seed mix sprinkled around the cage.

Edit: the white thing in the 2nd photo is a PVC tube I’m using as a tunnel.
