Help me pay my lil old lady’s $264 vet bill ❤️

Hi! This is Margot, my 10-year-old Chihuahua, my little old lady and silly soulmate. ❤️

Margot recently went to the vet for a vaccine booster and what was supposed to be a dental cleaning. Unfortunately, once the vet examined her, her remaining teeth were in bad enough condition that they had to be removed. The infection had also been contributing to other health issues, so I’m incredibly relieved that she’s now treated and doing well!

Her $264 CAD bill covers the vaccine booster, dental work/extractions, and her antibiotics and pain medication.

(I’ve included the invoice as proof, with identifying/contact information censored.)

I’m currently on medical leave with reduced income, and this unexpected expense came at a particularly difficult time. In a way, this fundraiser isn’t only about helping me. Margot has already received the care she needed. Our vet trusted me enough to treat her even though I couldn’t pay him right away, and what matters most to me now is returning that kindness as soon as possible.

He’s an independent vet who keeps his prices incredibly reasonable, and I want to make sure he gets paid for the care he gave my little lady. Hopefully, that also means he can continue being there for other people and their animals when they need him. 🫶🏻

Two incredibly kind people have already donated, and I’m genuinely so grateful. Seeing those first donations meant more to me than I can really put into words. 🥹❤️ Even a few dollars helps me get closer to paying the bill.

My goal is simply to get as close as possible to covering Margot’s bill. If by some lucky chance we raise more than that, any extra will stay entirely pet-related and go toward my other pets’ care and future vet expenses.

Thank you for reading, donating, sharing, or simply wishing my newly toothless little grandma a speedy recovery. ✨

[REQ] $80 CAD for groceries after unexpected medical form fee

Hi! I'm currently on medical leave and in the process of transitioning from EI sickness benefits to long-term disability insurance.

To submit my disability claim, my doctor had to complete a medical form for my insurance company, which came with an $80 CAD fee that I had to pay out of pocket today.

I was actually really relieved because I had just made about $80 from an art commission today, which gave me a little bit of breathing room. Unfortunately, the medical form ended up costing essentially the entire amount I had just earned.

Money is extremely tight for me right now, and I was counting on that money for groceries this week. I'm hoping someone might be willing to help me recover some or all of the $80 so I can put it back toward food and other necessities.

I have the receipt showing the $80 charge for the disability insurance form and that it was paid today. The receipt is in French since I'm from Quebec, Canada, but I'm happy to translate anything if needed.

If the $80 goal is reached, I'll immediately mark the post as fulfilled. I'm only looking to replace what I had to spend on this unexpected fee.

I completely understand if nobody can cover the full amount, but even a few dollars would genuinely help right now.

Thank you so much for reading. ❤️

Help Me Find Some Financial Breathing Room

Hi, my name is Sarah. I'm a 26 year old graphic designer from Quebec, Canada.

If you're reading this, thank you for taking the time.

Writing this is honestly one of the hardest things I've ever done... I've always found it much easier to help others than to ask for help myself. Creating a GoFundMe is something I never thought I would do, and even now I feel ashamed.

To be honest, I don't expect miracles. I know there are people going through situations much harder than mine, and I 100% understand if you choose to help them instead.

But I also realized that if I never ask for help, I'll never receive any.

Over the past few years, I've accumulated debt through student loans (14k), a line of credit (10k), personal loan (7k) and credit card (13k). Today, my total debt is approximately $45,000 CAD.

I have set the initial goal of this GoFundMe at $10,000 CAD, not because it would erase all of my debt, but because I wanted to set a goal that could genuinely help me breathe again. I don't expect strangers to solve all of my financial problems. I'm simply hoping for a little help getting back on my feet.

Like I said, Part of this debt comes from my education. During school, Quebec student financial aid and my part-time job weren't enough to cover all of my living expenses, so I had to rely on credit to make ends meet.

Later on, another large portion accumulated during a very difficult financial period where I was covering both my own expenses and my partner's while he had no income. That meant paying for rent, groceries, transportation, and many of our everyday expenses.

Another part came from helping family financially and not getting that money back. Looking back, I know I made some poor financial decisions trying to help others, and I take responsibility for that.

I've always been the kind of person who tries to help the people I care about whenever I can. But sometimes I gave more than I realistically should have because seeing someone I loved struggle was harder than saying no. And I know it definitely wasn't always the smartest financial decision to give money when I barely have enough for myself.

But I don't regret caring about people. I only wish I had also taken better care of myself. I've spent so much of my life giving without expecting anything in return that asking for help myself feels incredibly strange and embarrassing.

But I've now reached the point where I have to admit that I can't do this entirely on my own anymore.

Earlier this year, I had to stop working and go on medical leave because of burnout, chronic fatigue, and generalized anxiety. I'm still employed. My medical leave wasn't a decision I made on my own, it was recommended by my doctor, and my employer is holding my position while I recover. My goal is to return to work as soon as I'm medically able to. If I were healthy enough to work today, that's exactly what I'd be doing.

Losing a large part of my income changed everything. Around the same time (a bit before my leave), my partner also went through a long period without work, leaving us with far less income than we were used to.

We've done everything we can to stay responsible. We've continued paying our bills. We still make our debt payments every month, even if progress feels painfully slow.

We've also cut expenses. I've sold belongings, or at least tried, accepted art commissions whenever my health allowed it, and tried to find every possible way to improve my situation before asking strangers for help.

Asking for help wasn't my first option. It was actually my last. And it's frustrating. It makes me feel like I've failed.

Now I have to be honest with myself, even if I'm still managing to pay my bills for now, every month my financial breathing room gets smaller. And I mean smaller.

I can already see that even though I'm still keeping up with my payments today, it won't stay that way forever if nothing changes.

As I write this, after paying my monthly bills, I have nothing left in my bank account and only about $3 of available credit remaining on my credit card. I still have to figure out how I'm going to buy groceries this week. I've tried applying for another credit card, another loan, and even asking family... Nothing worked.

That realization was probably the moment I understood I couldn't keep pretending everything would somehow work itself out. I'm asking for help now because I'd rather do it before I completely hit rock bottom than after. Life doesn't stop because money is tight.

On top of everything, one of our dogs, who's now 10 years old, will soon need dental surgery to have several teeth removed. Our younger dog also has routine veterinary expenses coming up, including vaccinations and, in a few months, hopefully her spay surgery. They're part of our family, and I want to be able to give them the care they deserve without falling even further behind financially.

This campaign isn't about luxury at all. It isn't about avoiding responsibility. It isn't about asking strangers to erase all of my debt. It's simply about asking for a little breathing room.

Every donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward reducing my debt and helping me cover essential expenses while I recover and work toward returning to work.

My dream isn't to become rich. I simply want to reach a point where I can finally save for the future instead of spending every month paying for the past.

One day, I'd love to buy a small home with my partner and give our two dogs a backyard where they can safely run and enjoy the sun (our younger one absolutely loves sunbathing!) Right now, that dream feels very far away since I can't save any money, but I haven't stopped believing it's possible.

If you've read this far, thank you.

Whether you decide to donate, share my campaign, or simply wish us well...

It truly means more to me than you know.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.❤️
