Hi. I’m a mother to a 16 year old who is turning 17 next month. I wouldn’t say that parenting teens is easy but compared to a lot of the stuff I’ve seen I know it could have been worse, that is until what just happened recently. She’s always been a sweet kid with me and everyone else and although there have been a few rough bumps in the road. Lately there have been more of those bumpy moments than peace but she has never really given me the wild rebellious streak behavior and that’s what’s throwing me off. I take legally prescribed amphetamines and other prescribed neurological meds for my ADHD, my husband also takes benzodiazepines. Any med goes in the medicine cabinet in the powder room, first aid kids, other supplies etc. One day, my husband and I needed to run errands and leave her home alone like we usually did. On this specific occasion she admitted she went into the cabinet and began to take both my and her dad’s medication. She only admitted to this once I had went to take my meds the next morning and found that my newly refilled prescription I hadn’t opened was missing a large quantity of tablets. I’m just at a loss for words… I’ve never been put in this type of situation before even in adult settings I never “experimented” myself. I’m putting her in a CBT based therapy but it just feels so awful, I truly feel like a fuck up and like I’ve failed
