It’s not frustrating because it’s bad - it’s frustrating because it’s predictably and avoidably bad

For years we’ve been talking about the defensive frailties - the inability to pick up a man or to know who’s tracking which player from midfield.

Since Cunha and RAN left we’ve been talking about not having direct wide players and not having enough routes to goal.

All summer we’ve said that one of the first priorities has to has to HAS TO be sorting the goalkeeping situation.

If everyday Wolves fans can see this stuff then why can’t the ‘professionals’ running the club?! We don’t claim some incredible knowledge of the game, some of these problems are absolutely glaring and the club has had a long time to fix them.

Is it incompetence, laziness, lack of giving a shit or all of the above? I don’t know at this stage. All I know is so many of the concerns I and lots of other fans have had about this season played out on the pitch tonight.

To end on a happier note - nice to see a marginal decision go our way without VAR jumping in to change it. Even nicer to see Raul getting back on the scoresheet for us.

Oh look - Fosun are back to normal

I don’t know whether or not the change will work, and I’m not here to defend Edwards.

What I do know is that the last few weeks has - strangely enough for Fosun - screamed competence. The Andre deal, Trippier and Jimenez coming in early, it all felt calculated, strategic, sensible. A proper strategy which has been planned for months and is now being put into place.

This has the opposite vibe to it. It feels like Mendes called Fosun up a few days ago and said “I know you’ve never heard of this bloke, but don’t miss out”. I realise I have no proof to back this up, but it seems like they’ve made a massive change to a strategy which had started well because Uncle Jorge has another client he wants to move and we’re easy to convince.

For all Edwards’ faults (and there were many last season), the one thing we know about him is that he knows the Championship and does well there - that’s why he was brought in. If you give him the tools to compete (which Trippier, Jimenez and Andre feel like a good start to) then you have to believe he’d have us in the conversation. With Peixoto we don’t know - he could be Nuno or Zenga, we could end up top in November or bottom.

Maybe we would’ve ended up sacking Edwards in October anyway. Maybe Peixoto will be a genius and will adapt quickly to English football. But nobody knows that. For the first time in three years they had a strategy that was starting to look promising, and now they change it in an instant and add a ton of unnecessary risk on the word of a man who has repeatedly let us down over the last five years. Fosun are back to normal.

About to submit an application for a mortgage as a FTB, and need to send my last four months of bank statements. From what I've been advised, as long as my bills are all being paid on time and I'm not in debt (both ticks) I should be fine - but I wonder whether waiting a week will put me in a better position, as my next statement (due next Monday) will be better than the one from January which it would replace. I want to get things moving and submit as soon as I can, but there are two things making me hesitate:

  1. A £20 deposit to a gambling site in the January statement. That's the only gambling on any of the statements, but I know it's frowned upon.

  2. Due to a holiday, the January statement shows me losing a chunk of money. The statement which I'll get next week should show me saving some.

Am I overthinking, or for safety would waiting a week make my application be seen more favourably? The first concern is a one-off and the second is explainable, and if the reality is it won't make a difference I'll go ahead this week. All advice much appreciated - thank you!
