Our puppy is a chaweenie boy. Hes about 12 weeks old and we've had him about a week and a half. We bought him a cage, thats big enough to fit a small crate inside (for sleeping), and food and water bowl, a puppy pad (folded in half) and a small space about the size he is just for play (4 toys). I originally put a towel in the crate to make his 'bed' comfy, and a towel on the floor of the cage to make it comfy too. He proceeded to piss and shit all over the towels each time, ignoring his puppy pads. Then I took the towels away. He proceeding to keep shitting in his crate. Then he shit on the puppy pads a couple times, but walked all over it, tracking the poop all over his toys. Also, he barely plays with his toys when they are in there and only rips apart the puppy pads. Its like he saw the crate as the perfect place to sleep AND shit, and the puppy pad the perfect toy despite other toys being in there.

After a lot of removing things with little to no improvements, he now ONLY has a food and water bowl, and a puppy pad. Nothing else. I cant clean shit out of a crate daily, and shit off toys daily. This is too much.

My husband brought this puppy home as a surprise and I DO NOT want it. My husband is not helping with puppy, and completely unwilling because of his job (he will take the puppy out to play every few days and take him outside maybe about once a day- but thats it). I have a 3 year old, an old home to take care of myself, multiple health issues, and no village. Rehoming the puppy is not an option, my husband is making us keep him for our son. Divorcing is not an option I will consider right now.

Edit: the puppy currently spends 95% of his day in this cage. I take him out to go potty every 3 hours if I can, but I just cant sometimes- im too busy with my kid and too sick. I dont have much time for this puppy. I need quick, easy solutions.

Also: in this context 'cage' refers to the big thing that a smaller 'crate' is inside.
