2025 EX AWD Software Update?
Very happy owner of a 2025 EX AWD. I bought it used from a small EV centric dealership about two months ago with just over 19k miles and I’ve been extremely happy with this car as my first EV! It looks and drives like a brand new car! I’ve already put over 2500 miles on it with my daily commute and a couple of small trips. The battery range is reporting higher than what it was listed at factory and I do seem to be getting close to the expected range. Being able to charge at work for free is an absolute dream! I rarely need to charge at home and have only charged at public chargers a few times when traveling and just because I wanted ti try out fast charging to know what to expect if I ever need it.
I’ve not had any unexpected issues with the software or any clicking axels or anything like that.
I set up everything to make sure I get notified for any recalls and have verified a few times that my car is not listed for a software recall. That’s a little unfortunate because I’d love to be able to get it updated to Android 14 but it seems only models with a recall or ones that shipped with 14 get it.
To get to the point, I decided to schedule an appointment with the local Honda dealership just to have them check things out and I needed to get the tires rotated. I set up the appointment using the HondaLink app and much to my surprise, it notified me of a recall for a software update related to the HVAC. I was caught off guard by this because entering my VIN anywhere else indicated there were no active recalls. And as I have already mentioned, I’ve had absolutely no software issues and especially no issues with the HVAC system. And I’ve been driving this car on very hot summer days in the upper 90’s low 100’s recently. Has anyone else heard of this update?
I dropped the car off at 8:30 AM today and was quickly notified that it’ll take most of the day for the software updates. I’m thankful that my local dealership service center is absolutely top notch. I’ve read about some of the horrors many here have had with their Honda dealerships not really being equipped with knowledgeable professionals to work on a (GM EV) prologue. I noticed my local dealership had several prologues in the parking lot and they have charging stations right in front of the building. All of these things lead me to believe I’m going to have a positive outcome, I’m
still perplexed by the fact that it popped up that I need a software update at all, but that it didn’t do so until I started to schedule the service appointment. Fingers crossed that it means I’ll get Android 14, but I just want it to continue to function as great as it has been with no software glitches.
