What harness do you use?

What harness do you use?

https://www.sassywoof.com/products/dog-adjustable-harness-polly-pocket

I have a harness from Sassy Woof but I’m looking for something else. it’s nice, well made, soft. But Hugo keeps getting his front leg through the neck hole. How he does that is anyone’s guess but I think the neck hole is a bit too big. otherwise the harness fits fine, and a smaller size won’t fit at all.

I need a secure harness for car and bike rides - I will not tether him with a collar.

Much appreciate any advice!

His bloodwork is normal!!!

OMG that was a long month! If you remember, Hugo had tests before his neutering that came back showing elevated liver enzymes. I was so afraid there was something wrong with him. I’m so relieved I’m in tears.

Hugo at 7 months

He’s starting to look more like an adult than a pup. Seems to not be growing much anymore and is fairly proportionate. I think he’ll always look leggy, he’s 13”, but I no longer expect him to be huge. He’s about 7.5 lbs. Still a naughty, sassy boy. 😂

I started him on Greenies - I had him crate trained when I first got him, and right after his s neuter he refused to go in it. in fact he was also mostly potty trained, and regressed with that too. I used a Greenie to lure him to his crate one time and now he only has to see me pick of the bag and he’s in the crate.

weird, none of my other dog gs liked them and they had Minties instead, but Hugo won’t even look at those.

I saw that Greenies also makes treats, so I’m going to try those and see if he likes them. We’re currently using Canine Carryouts bacon flavor

Hugo update

Do he did fine with his neuter and surgery on his leg - he did lick at the leg stitches a little bit, not too bad. The neuter, he looked at the incision when I took that surgery suit off, but he was not very interested in that.

He had gabepentin and trazadone- and he was bouncing off the walls. when we went back to get the bandage ff his leg I begged for something else to keep him calm. I got Acepromazine and that did the trick. Later figured out it was the Trazadone making him crazy.

So he’s off all the meds now and fully healed, we get back in a couple weeks to re check the liver enzymes but he seems perfectly healthy for now

He turned 6 months and , although he was always a monster (I love him, god knows, but honestly he’s such a turd! lol) he is pretending he has forgotten everything he ever was taught He was crate trained Now he refuses to go in He used to sit and let me get his harness on, now he fights me all the way He was getting better about the biting, now he’s growling, snarling, snapping . He’s stealing, he will not stop barking He’s a total brat

Trainers have told me he seems rather extreme even given the age, but not to be worried Just keep training and expect him to rebel 110% for now . Not to expect progress, and not to feel defeated or give up One trainer told me, all of the lessons are sinking in even if you can’t see it And as abruptly as he entered puberty, he’ll probably exit it just as quickly Expect to wake up one day to a dog who remembers everything you taught him

Sounded very comforting to me , very sensible I just hope I survive to see it! 😂

Elevated liver enzymes?

Hugo had a rough day, neutered, microchipped, extra toe removed removed, and two baby teeth pulled. His pre-op labs came back okay except for elevated liver enzymes. He goes back in 4 weeks for a re test and hopefully I get some answers then. For now, they don’t know what caused it. I’m worried. Has anyone else been thr this? He’s young so I am thinking that limits the potential causes, but not in a good way.

Pupdate

Hugo is 5.5 months, 12.5” tall. Not sure what he weighs, but he’s losing his baby canines and not eating much kibble lately. I’m giving him eggs, cottage cheese, and chicken so he doesn’t go hungry. His big boy coat is coming in nicely.

His personality is really starting to show, and he’s becoming a really lovely little fellow. He’s listening better, the biting is more puppy nibbles than shark attack, and he can be trusted to sleep in my bed at night. (I’d know if he was getting up to no good because he’d have my shoes all over the house - we’re still working on that!)

Pitty training is still a work in progress. Sometimes he tells me he needs to go out - he has a button that says Potty potty when pressed that he’s using - usually I take him out before he asks. He usually pees outside, occasional accidents. He still poops in his crate, sometimes on the floor, then he brings it to me. 😂 Today, he pooped, pressed the Potty button, then showed me where the poop was. I guess that’s progress. put the poop in the yard and gave him praise and a treat. Like I said, we’re working on it.

I can’t believe the difference between him at 2-4 months vs now. He’s a whole different dog, from such a naughty little pup to such a sweet good boy. I struggled a lot those first 2 months, and now that I can see what a wonderful companion he’s turning into, it was all worthwhile. I love him so much!

He just gets prettier and fluffier every day! 3 weeks ago his hair was all like 1/2” long lol. Am I weird, or is it normal to get excited about tail fringe and scruff fluff?
