Hey everyone,
Former pro soccer player from Europe here. I came to the U.S. for college, stayed for both my bachelor’s and master’s, was fortunate enough to earn All-American honors, and I’ll be starting as an NCAA Division I assistant coach this fall after graduating this past May.
An old teammate of mine from Europe - who’s now a current and decorated MLS player - and I have been talking about building something a little different for serious youth players in North Carolina (but not limited to)
The idea isn’t another academy or a massive camp. We’d keep it intentionally small, limited and waitlist model. We are working on a pilot training session with up 10 field players and 2 goalkeepers.
We’d both be on the field coaching the entire session. I’d lead the attacking side as a current Division I coach, while he’d coach the defensive side and goalkeepers from the perspective of someone competing in MLS every week. The goal would be to create a focused, high-level training environment for players who genuinely want to take the next step in their development.
Before putting time into organizing it, I wanted to ask the parents:
Is this something you’d actually be interested in?
What age groups would make the most sense?
What would make a session like this worth paying for?
Is there anything you feel is missing from youth soccer training?
I’m not selling anything or taking registrations, just trying to find out if there’s genuine interest before moving forward.
We are also exploring other models as well, that could have a stronger impact than "simply" the coaching aspect. Curious to hear from you, if you have any ideas!
Parents and kids, talk to me and let me know your thoughts
