UK Taxi & Private Hire Drivers – Would This Be Useful? 🚕

I’m building a tool specifically for UK taxi and private hire drivers called TaxTaxi.

The idea is simple:
✅ Track business mileage
✅ Estimate tax throughout the year
✅ See your real profit (not just what Uber/Bolt says you earned)
✅ Stay organised for Self Assessment
✅ Prepare for Making Tax Digital (MTD) requirements coming in over the next few years

A lot of accounting software feels like it was built for accountants rather than drivers.

Most drivers I speak to just want to know:

How much profit have I actually made?

How much tax should I put aside?

Am I making money after fuel, insurance and vehicle costs?

Have I recorded enough mileage?

Before I spend months building it, I’d love some honest feedback from drivers.

What features would make something like this genuinely useful for you?

I’m trying to build something that saves drivers time rather than creating more admin.

Any feedback (good or bad) would be massively appreciated.

Advice on how to reach FIRE

Hi,

Just need some advice on maximising my chances of fire, 27M.

Current financials -

Property 1 - 95k equity approx.
Property 2 (flat) - 28k approx.
Private pension - 13k (started late with this , dumb I know)
SS ISA - 1k (only started couple months ago)
Savings/emergency fund - 8k

Will be selling property 2 in short/medium term to diversify and pay off some more of property 1 (205k left to pay)

Annual income is approx. 40k, plan to work a second job soon which should bring in another 7-8k a year.

I’m hoping to use SS ISA to bridge the gap between when I retire and when I can access private pension. I know it’s not a lot at the moment and I got a long way to go.

How are most Uber/Bolt drivers actually doing their tax returns?

Hi drivers,

How are you managing your bookkeeping and tax returns these days, and roughly what are you spending?

I’ve been speaking to a few drivers recently and everyone seems to be doing something different.

Some use an accountant, some use spreadsheets, some use apps, and some just leave everything until January and hope for the best.

I’m curious what the norm actually is these days. Is paying an accountant still the easiest option, or have people found a simpler way of staying on top of everything?

Interested to hear what everyone is doing.

Anyone made a decent income in logistics?

For context, Ive been in import logistics for 5 years now. I’d like to know if anyone has made it far in this industry and how you got there and assuming it helped in your FIRE journey?

I feel like there’s an upper limit of 45k in this industry and not much more as far as earnings go.

Admin pain points as a landlord

Fellow landlords,

What are the biggest admin pain points you have that you wish you didn’t have to do? As a landlord what i find frustrating is that everyone sends invoices, statements, compliance docs etc. via email and you have to sort all this out and log it somewhere etc.

I’m working on a project. Essentially, you’ll be able to forward any docs such as statements, invoices, onto a unique email address and it will store/log everything for you so it’s easy to manage and you can download a file when it’s time for tax return and send it to your accountant or they can download it themselves via the platform. My aim is to reduce manual admin landlords have. Be as hands off as possible.
