A few observations and a few requests for advice.

I’ve had my Celestron telescope for about 3 years and only used the StarSense tech tonight for the first time. It is really nice, I found Bode’s Galaxy easily and probably would never have found it on my own. I also viewed the Lagoon nebula and poked around at a few other objects. It is soooo nice to have the guidance to find stuff, I am really slow at finding stuff on my own.

My goto eyepiece is a 14mm 82**°** eyepiece. My 24mm 68 ° is best for clusters and my 4.5mm 52 ° is not at all useful for deep space objects.

I want something stronger for deep space objects. I’m considering either an 8.5 or a 6.5mm, both 82**°.** Any suggestions as to which might be better?

I have a Celestron UHC filter and I’ve tried it out on the Orion Nebula and I’m not impressed with it. Any suggestions for a filter that will improve viewing of nebulae?

Are these frog eggs?

I found the eggs and a tree frog under a piece of plastic in my yard. I put the plastic back over them just in case.

Location: Bermuda.

Last night I took a look at the moon with my 8” Dob using a 4.5 mm eyepiece. Viewing conditions weren't great so I just enjoyed looking at it while the moon zoomed by in the eyepiece.

It occurred to me that what I was experiencing was similar to flying over the moon at some distance, so I’m wondering what the approximate distance from the moon my view compares to.

Is it as simple as dividing the distance to the moon by the magnification of the eyepiece/telescope combination?

I'm (M-64) reviewing potential cash flow for my wife (F-64) should I kick the bucket before she does. Assuming I make it to full retirement at 67 (This is my plan) and croak sometime afterwards, what would her benefit be since she's been on Social Security Disability for about 10 years now. My understanding is that a survivor is entitled to the full primary earner benefit but I do not know if her collecting disability affects the calculation.

Does her being on disability affect what she would get after I assume room temperature?
