Hey yall if any of you went the surplus meeting for secondary did yall feel like it ended so fast like we couldnt even ask any questions

I was wondering if you are a .5 contract teacher is your benefits for the whole year or just for the semester you teach. As well as getting paid throughout the summer is that for the whole summer or just one month. Sorry I’m new to all this.

I am a secondary teacher and got my contract for second semester.

What happens if you dont get placed in those two years? Is that a high possibility bc i just flt my .5 contract in February and I am newer to thr board I started in September 2025 and my teachable are English and social sciences. I am a secondary teacher should I take AQ’s to make sure I get recalled back or how does that work? I am have been so stressed and worried that maybe I should switch careers but I genuinely love this job.

I am a newer teacher and ever since I started at this new school Ive been hating my job (coming from someone who loves her job) i teach high school and the phones are ridiculous. I ask them to put it away it is back out two second later, i tell them to put it in the phone pouch that i have and they take it back when my back is turned foe a second, and they are so rude. Idk if its specifc to the school i am at bc last semester my school was not like this. They dont listen and are rude to your. I have explained this one assignment multiple times and today this kid asked me what they have to do for the assignment and she responded saying im bad at explaining and i was like did look at the outline ( the outline paragraph 1: the questions your supposed to answer in the first paragraph and so on). Idk i just cant handle the disrespect and dont know what to do about the phones. Idk if it is bc I am a younger teacher (24 years old) or what. Any advice would be super helpfullll.
