Experiences living in Dubai?

Hello friends. I am considering a move to Dubai for work, though not permanently. Apart from recreational activities, the obvious ongoing war and tax-free privilege, what are some things to be mindful of or to consider, before moving there? Or even when I am there?

I plan to come back to Singapore of course. I feel like this is a good life and work experience. I am a 36 years old, single male and am not in a hurry to settle down. I am in the maritime industry and well, Singapore is not doing so good on the job front. Although I somehow think it is the same situation in Dubai and the rest of the world too..

Appreciate if anyone who is currently there, or has been there before, share your experiences and tips?

Thank you in advance!

Kicks sound distorted after clipping + limiting

Hello Friends. I have a good + clean kick sample which sounds great with my track. On the kick channel, I clipped it + add a little saturation.

Afterwhich, I tried to level-match my track to my reference which is hitting about -6 LUFS.

At this stage, my main mix bus also contains abit of clipping + saturation and limiting (I wanted to export the track and listen to it in other systems so I did a simple pre-master)

But now the kick is starting to distort and it is quite noticeable.

How do you guys navigate this problem? If I don't do pre-mastering, the kick sounds good and clean. But the whole track is not loud enough to for me to do test on other systems. But if I do a little pre-master, the kick starts to distort abit but the track is loud enough for me to have an idea of what it sounds on other systems.

What can I do then?

KICK BUS - eq + saturn 2 + clipper

MASTER BUS - saturn 2 + clipper + limiter

This means the kick is going through multiple clippers + saturation. Is it advisable then for me to not route the kick to the master bus and leave it?

MIXING ON CLOSED-BACK HEADPHONES

Hello Friends. Many months ago I bought a DT 1770 PRO MKII for mixing & producing. It's a closed-back headphone because my room is not well-treated and my apartment is rather small with the rooms being too close to work on Speakers.

For leisure, I am also on Soundcore liberty 4 pros and these are a delight to listen to with LDAC support.

Has anyone of you gotten too used to your daily fun earbuds/headphones that studio headphones are no longer favourable? I love my Soundcores because yeah well it produces a thumpy rich bass and makes listening very enjoyable.

I understand that Studio headphones are superior when mixing. But the lowend of the DT1770 is very lacklustre for me. I have problems mixing with it especially on the lowend. More than often, my mix is too subby/bassy simply because I can't really hear it on the DTs until I sort of crank it up.

How do guys navigate this issue?
