Nearly a month of Season 15 at 1-2 hours a day: what’s better and what still isn’t
Played since beta, every season. I play 1-2 hours a day. Here’s what a month of that got me in Season 15.
First, the good. Fighting Diablo again is great. The D1, D2 and D3 callbacks are the best thing this game has done in a long time. Targeted mythic crafting and charm rerolls are real improvements.
Two things still don’t work for me.
1. Time.
I’m on Dance of Knives rogue, a top-tier build, just not the one everyone’s running. I crafted my Cowl of the Nameless and hit T12 for the first time.
Getting there took every hour I had, on one character, and the build is only now coming together.
The Cube needs its own mat farm. You get one crafted mythic and every other slot is still drops. Account-wide War Plans help alts. Gear, Cube mats and the mythic still start from zero, so a second character isn’t happening for me.
2. Homework.
Charms, runes, the Cube. Very little of it is taught in the game itself. Your options are streamer guides, which is a second tax, or reading ALL the patch notes every time and doing the math yourself on what changed. That one at least works if you need help falling asleep.
Worst example: the Prime Evil powers. A new splinter dropped, so I tried it. Now I’m leveling a reputation track that doesn’t fit my build. The only way back is another splinter from the largest Waking Nightmares, and as far as I can tell which one you get is random. I haven’t seen the one I need since.
The swap rule is in a Blizzard blog post. I shouldn’t have to hunt for blog posts to learn the systems they keep adding.
I’ve played every season and I still need outside guides to understand the stuff they add. Or I find out from a streamer that something is bugged, after wondering why it doesn’t work.
Shorten the climb or teach the systems in the game. Ideally both.
