I'll keep this short and simple - dump the 1 craft mythic item equip rule

You already nerfed the OG mythics. You already nerfed the drop rates. Can we just please equip what we want and make some fun builds? While you're at it, fire whoever thought this was a good idea. Seriously.

Entered helltide, not even sure how I died

It definitely seems like it's even easier than ever to be one shot by nothing, but this was ridiculous

Yes S14 is comparatively bad but I honestly am not bothered by it

Maybe an unpopular opinion here but I’m honestly having fun, not sure how long the fun will last (just got to torment X), but for me the biggest chase is getting my build strong enough for T12. I usually lose interest at that point anyway and I’ve never been about the mythic chase unless it was an absolute BIS item for a certain build. That doesn’t seem to be the case anymore as a well rolled unique might outperform a mythic version with subpar stats and iconic mythics aren’t really being put on build
Guides due to rarity. Compared to last season it’s definitely worse but it’s still scratching my ARPG itch between Poe2 and Poe1 seasons.

I should add that I play like 15 hours a week tops, maybe 20 if I have some extra time so I don’t burn through content as fast as others. I’m guessing there are plenty of people in the same bucket!

Criticism & feedback are healthy, I just don’t think these things bother me as much as they are everyone else. Is it just me?

If even Rob the biggest Diablo glazer is telling you its really bad… then its REALLY bad!

I can actually feel the pain in his voice haha. Hopefully a big voice like this forces the devs to hotfix this fucking bullshit!

Microsoft is restructuring its gaming business and has laid off around 4,800 employees today. Asha Sharma confirms Blizzard is one of the affected organizations.

"We are also making reductions across other units, and in some cases, shifting investment to focus on higher priority projects. These changes vary in size across Activision, Bethesda/ZeniMax, Blizzard, King, Mojang, and XBOX Game Studios. " -

Blizzard, you had ONE freaking job! It makes no sense.

After the high of the expansion and the almost universal acclaim in comparison with recent seasons, all Blizzard had to do to maintain momentum was have a season that wasn't awful.

Nope... couldn't pull it off. Major steps backwards on numerous fronts.

It's as if there isn't a single person at Blizzard with a clue.

Someone must be sabotaging things, because there's no way you could accidentally be this bad, especially in light of PTR feedback that was COMPLETELY ignored.

The mythic rework is an absolute disaster. Class rebalance choices make ZERO sense. The seasonal mechanic is not only boring AF, but half of the interactions with endgame activities make no sense and result in no rewards or incentive at all.

As much as I dislike PoE and its community, GGG at least knows how to cater to its playerbase... Blizzard is just flailing about awkwardly, hoping to randomly get something right.

Mythic tribute with no Mythic is pretty terrible

Just as title suggests. Takes effort to get the tribute, and then you get nothing seems like a slap in the face. Who signed off on this?

PSA: Cube 3-1 rerolling three NATURAL mythics gives CRAFTED mythic back

So i got my 4th mythic ramaldni drop. I decided to reroll the 3 (naturally dropped) ones i had in stash hoping for better stats than one i had equipped.

However it seems that 3-1 rerolling three NATURAL mythics still gives back a CRAFTED mythic that can no longer be equipped.

So yeah. You cant even 3-1 them lmao.

Just to highlight something positive for once: Nightmare Dungeons are actually fun now.

Despite all the valid criticism going around right now, I really feel like Nightmare Dungeons are finally hitting that sweet spot. I actually find myself really enjoying running them lately.

A few of the recent QoL changes have been fantastic. For example:

Animus Carriers: Dropping just a little bit more Animus than strictly required is great. If you miss one, it’s no longer the end of the world.

Extra Objectives: Placing 1 or 2 extra destructible structures on the map is such a good change. If you skip a side corridor or walk past one, you can still finish the dungeon without having to backtrack through the entire map.

Sure, there are still a handful of specific dungeons that could use another tuning pass, but overall, it feels right. The escalating NMD are a lot of fun and my personal favorite this season, and the rewards are definitely hitting the mark.

All in all, Nightmare Dungeons are in a super good place right now. I just wish they would finally give Infernal Hordes a similar overhaul to bring them up to this level of polish.

The problem with S14 isn't entirely because of the mythic rework, it just made underlying issues more visible.

tl;dr because this was longer than intended: While Blizzard likely intended to make rarer drops more exciting, they made underlying problems more visible. Gear progression quickly turns into min-maxxing, and long-term play that encourages you to hunt for these items is not supported by D4's current endgame.

I'm a long time Diablo player, and I find Diablo 4 to be a very interesting game because while the gameplay is incredibly enjoyable, the systems feel very flawed. I've thought about this a lot since the middle of the previous season, but haven't really been able to formulate my thoughts on it until this season.

The launch of Lord of Hatred was great, but I think the game's progression and itemization are the biggest things that hold this game back. I felt this in season 13, but season 14 has made it extremely more apparent. The most enjoyable part of a season to me is the very start where each piece of loot has value. You're constantly finding upgrades and drops feel exciting and meaningful. Once you start moving through the Torment tiers however, the excitement quickly fades. Gear progression goes from finding meanginful gear and transitions to a stage where you're primarily farming materials and chasing specific GA combinations.

One of the biggest things that Diablo 2 excelled at was the consistency with loot feeling exciting, you had the chance to get something meaningful at any point in the game. Whether it be a high rune, a rare with crazy affixes, a set item, a highly valuable charm, or a good base for a runeword: you always had something meaningful to hunt for that was exciting to find.

However with Diablo 4, there's a lot of frontloading in progression that makes it less exciting as you progress through the Torment tiers. Once you have an assembled build, you're not really searching for meaningful new items that make looting things feel exciting; you're searching for better versions of items through GA's.

Instead of spending time finding meaningful loot to drop, your gear progression is done through the crafting systems, namely the cube. You're filling your inventory with uniques that drop like candy in search of a combination of good affixes. Legendaries lack excitement because you're hunting for an aspect, not the actual piece of gear that drops. The excitement quickly shifts from constantly finding new items at the start of the season, to marginally improving the quality of your gear through stat improvements.

I think the mythic rework was introduced as an intention to bring some of the excitement back by introducing rare items that felt meaningful to find. The idea makes sense, people end up running out of exciting things to loot and feel dissatisfaction with uniques. The problem is that Blizzard didn't address the underlying problem and only made it more apparent.

Diablo 4 isn't currently built around the idea of long term chasing after gear. Seasons are short, and player interest dissipates by the time people reach Torment 12. Many upgrades are only small optimizations through extremely lucky drops or gambling through transfiguration, and at this point you start to play more for acquiring materials over acquiring loot. By the time mythic uniques are currently found, it's at the stage when it doesn't meaningfully scale your power. They're marginal upgrades that act as a fine-tuning finisher to your build. Which fails to even do that, given that the affixes are randomized.

The intent was there with the mythic rework, but it was an astronomical failure. I'm not sure what the short-term solution is, because a lot of the underlying issues are addressed by reworking the entire itemization system again. It's great for casual players, but the tradeoff comes at the cost of progression being less meaningful. Progression turns into gear refinement, and there doesn't feel like there's a lot of excitement by the time you reach Torment 12 outside of pushing pits and finishing your seasonal challenges.

S14 Necro shadow mages end game

Hey all, this is my guide for Necro shadow mages.

It's my first go at a guide for Diablo 4 and my first youtube video so any constructive feedback would be welcome.

The aim is to showcase a non glass cannon build that's very capable of completing the season journey and beyond for other minion enjoyers!

@Blizzard: when an instance is finished, e.g.: Pit, NDMs etc., it should be FINISHED!

It's like you heard us moaning about the after death effects and decided to quintuple down this season. I can generally get a character to 70 without dying, and after that, it's only if I push too far too fast that I normally die. I also generally play hardcore.

Not this season, oh no.

This season, I have died after I've beaten the pit multiple times, or had to spend 30 seconds trying to find an angle to level my glyphs while avoiding the giant endless poison pool on the ground. Both Volcanic and Drifting Shades (curse them both to hell) have killed me multiple times when I was trying to pick up loot after the NMD had finished, unless, again, I stand off to the side for 30 seconds or more (it seems to vary) until the NMD effect decides it's done.

And what's with every dungeon / boss lair now having hordes of mobs rush in as soon as it's done?

I like a challenge. This is not that. These mechanics are on par with the Lilith fight for pure frustration and zero enjoyment.

Edit: typo

D4 no longer about killing MoBs, only dodging ground effects?

It seems that D4 is moving away from the idea of killing hordes of mobs, and your whole life is spent dodging all the new ground effects, and other AOE death storms that they keep bringing out. Cod forbid you have a channel or have to stop moving for more than a microsecond before all kinds of carp starts blocking all visibility and generally making it impossible to see what's going on.

10 mythic tributes @T12 in a group of 3.

Got tons of bonus chests from pranksters.

We got 1 mythic.

Not one each, one total across 3 people over 10 runs.

What is even the point?

Also why don’t mythics have at least one GA anymore?

Season 14 is terribly boring and tedious thanks to the new changes.

This season is the most frustrating one for me so far

Not only have I barely noticed the season theme, but right now I'm trying once again to get one of the non-target-farmable Uniques (Seelord's Fine Glives as Talisman), and honestly, it has been absolutely zero fun.

I farmed materials for hours and, of course, didn't get the Unique drop. Neither as gloves nor as talisman..Then I wasted 12,000 Obols gambling on gloves and only got three different Uniques in total. After that, I had enough materials to upgrade a common item to Unique eight times. Yeah, no luck either.

So now I'm at the point where I have to go grind for another few hours just to try and get it again, and all of this just so I can finally play my Death Trap Rogue. It’s just not fun. Honestly, all the air is completely out of this season for me right now.

What are some of your Diablo 4 hot takes?

Although they're probably not objectively good for the game, I'll die on the following hill when it comes to quality-of-life changes:

1. Getting hit shouldn't cancel a Town Portal - you should still take the damage though

If I got a penny for every time I tried to leave a Helltide, only for a monster to spawn on top of me and cancel my portal, I could afford a new phone just to not play Diablo Immortal

  1. XP orbs and Pit orbs should gravitate toward the player

If I got XP for every orb I missed because I refused to backtrack, I'd be Paragon 300 already for sure

  1. Once a dungeon boss dies, dungeon affixes should deactivate

I killed the boss, please just let me loot and move on. And by the way: Have the remaining normal mobs run back to their original positions or simply despawn; they are no threat at all, but still annoying as hell

  1. Conviction Chests should open instantly

Like seriously ... wtf?

What are your hot takes?
