1 week post op with explant + lift!!! Could NOT be happier 🥹

If you’re 18 and think you won’t have kids or that gravity won’t come clawing at you as the years go by, think again 😆 I got Mentor silicone gummy bears 12.5 years ago. I’ve had back pain for the latter half that intensified as the years went by, limiting my ability to work out and be active in my kids’ lives. This past year has been the absolute worst; my body and mind have been screaming at me to get them out. I’m soooo glad I listened!!! One was ruptured and the doctor guessed it probably had been for a year or more. I cannot WAIT to become active, be less pissy all the time, and wear cute clothes again!!

I wish I knew then what I know now. To each their own, of course, but here’s your reminder that if you have silicone implants, make sure you are getting MRI scans every 2 years to look for silent ruptures after you’ve reached the 5 year mark. No one ever told me this, but it is recommended by the FDA ♥️

Has anyone got partially reimbursed by their insurance for a ruptured implant found during surgery?

I paid out-of-pocket for the procedure (main complaint was extreme back pain but did have breast pain as well), but when they opened me up, they found one of my Mentor silicone gummy bear implants (from 2013) had been ruptured. I didn’t get any imaging prior to surgery ordered by my OBGYN because it was going to cost me $759 out of pocket, and I knew I was getting them out one way or another, so I just skipped it. Has anyone filed a claim after the fact and got partially reimbursed due to surgical notes/documentation? I have Aetna POS II

Edited to add that I did pay for a lift as well. I do not expect to be reimbursed for that 😊

Those who discovered they had a silent rupture…what changed after your explant?

I got my silicone implants 12.5 years ago. I have experienced worsening back and neck pain over the years to the point where it was severely affecting my daily life, both physically and mentally. I finally decided to explant + lift today, and, turns out, my left implant was ruptured (for who knows how long!) and they had to vacuum all the silicone out. Now I’m concerned that this has potentially been the cause of a lot of other bodily issues, especially pertaining to my mental health.

For those of you who had a silent rupture and explanted, did you notice any changes in your life upon doing so? Did brain fog clear? Did libido change? Were you less depressed? Please tell me about ANY type of change that occurred in the weeks/months post explant! TIA!
