actually in hell

hi everyone,

i just started my placement for my second semester of student teaching. I am teaching 10th grade world history and the kids are a handful but that is to be expected..

my real issue lies with the university supervisors requests. she wants a full edtpa style lesson plan for each and every lesson, with a full written reflection on every single days work and a weekly overview of what I am doing. Is this too much to ask? no one else in my program has to do this much work for their supervisor. I am working two jobs and genuinely am just at a loss of when I am supposed to do this work. Planning is one thing and it is time consuming enough but writing out a full " students will open up chromebooks" every single lesson for each anticipated action seems outrageous to me. I am struggling so much. She also told me she wants the lesson plans for the week and a half of lessons I have already taught rewritten in the edtpa style format. I think this semester is going to kill me

Advice or Examples for 10th grade history

hello!

I am a student teacher and I am really trying to prepare for my next semester. I found out I will be teaching 10th grade world history first semester. I am located in california and i have the state standards/textbook for the school I will be working at, but I am very confused on how to approach the subject. I have taught at one other school and really did not learn anything and my previous mentor was kind of a mess with planning. I will have to complete the EDTPA this semester and I am a little nervous since I am supposed to teach from ancient rome to the industrial revolution for the first semester but there are only 3 sections of standards for those eras so I am kind of confused on what I am supposed to do (especially for the EDTPA). I know how to do backwards planning but I am just confused with the lack of standards. Everything I look up for 10th grade world is centered around the modern world (since the class is about modern history lol) but i am teaching the beginning part of the class that just seems not as emphasized in this curriculum. I do not really have any ideas about pacing, what to cover and what I am supposed to do when the "meat" of this modern history class is happening in the second semester where I am not there. My new mentor basically just said to read the framework (done) and to go from there but again the framework is largely centered on 1750 and beyond. I am not sure what I am supposed to do for a full semester when I have like 11 standards total to cover and 20ish weeks to do it. I feel like the edtpa is going to be more difficult than it would be for the second semester and I am really just not sure wtf I am doing. My mentor told me they were basically out of office for the summer and we will connect the day before school starts in August to plan but I do not think that is a lot of time since I am supposed to run the class from day one. What should I do, where should I look, what am I even teaching!

Planning and getting ready

Hi all!
I am in my second semester of student teaching (so close to the end!) and I just received my placement for my school. I will be teaching 10th grade world history and I am at a huge loss of how to prep.
My last placement/mentor was great but there was not a lot of structure. Everything was from tpt, no tests/quizzes, no procedures, no homework, no presentations, etc. so I am really at a loss of where to start, what to do etc.
my new mentor is intense, lots of structure, lots of actual work for the student, I have really no clue how to plan, how to prep, what I’m supposed to do.
Where would you start? How would you plan curriculum out? What should I even do? I feel so incredibly underprepared!

“Therapy” through Kaiser

Hi everyone,
I recently discussed with my psychiatrist that I want to start doing trauma based therapy and they referred me out to some website/app therapy called Rula. I assume since my provider referred me that it is covered under my insurance, but when I looked at the insurance section of my rula profile it says that they are anticipating I pay $175 dollars per session (zoom). Even though they “accept my insurance”. This feels like bs to me because I could see an actual in person therapist for the same rate which is what I would prefer. I did this route because I can’t afford to do that. I canceled all the rescheduled appointments but I can’t cancel the next one without a fee. I feel like this is ridiculous and I don’t even really know what to do anymore besides pay almost $200 for a useless therapist session over zoom and then never do it again since I can’t afford it. What is even the point of having insurance when it is not even helping me or paying for things I was referred to. What do I do?
