Pay as you go meter debt

Hi everyone,
I already know I’ve messed up, so I’d really appreciate it if people could avoid judging me. I’m just looking for advice 😌😌😌

I’m with British Gas on a smart prepayment meter, and I’ve built up about £210 of debt. I’ve only got around £1.60 of emergency credit left, and I literally have no money until I get paid on Tuesday.
The problem is that I work from home, so if my electricity goes off, I won’t have internet and I won’t be able to work. As soon as I get paid on Tuesday, I’ll pay the full £210, so I’m not trying to avoid paying it.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is there anything British Gas can do, like temporary/discretionary credit, or anyone I should call? Any advice would be really appreciated.

Before anyone says anything I have already emailed my LM just thought I’d also ask on here too :)

Started as an EO at the HO around 2 weeks ago and missed payroll cut-off, so by the time payday comes around I’ll have worked about 6 weeks before getting paid.

I’ve asked my line manager about a possible salary advance and she said she’s checking, but I’m a bit anxious waiting to hear back. Has anyone in the Civil Service managed to get a salary advance this early in the job / while still on probation? Was it difficult to get approved?

Thanks guys
