The last two Nick and Alice scenes

are not just at the very end of the Finale, so already significant- they both anchor Alice’s story - those are the last scenes of HER story

Alice choosing herself was what many of us wanted to see. She’s still a kid, growing up, but still so young. Most of her recent life has been lived in the past - now she gets to live in the present.

I thought Nick’s advice about exploring her world was so beautiful. Remember, he wanted to escape PH since he was a teenager - but now he’s realized that his home is PH…(with her)

An unforgettable memory in Paris

it just came to me all of a sudden - I’ll never forget it

I was in Paris last June, on a food tour, and we stopped in this beautiful shop that makes and sells jams, jellies, etc…

As part of the tour, I got a few samples. After the first one, one of either the shop keeper or my guide asked if I could guess the main ingredients. I got it right… as well as the next few ones as well. The shop keeper was so impressed that she gave me a free jar of any jam I wanted ..

I have so many memories of my recent trip, but this was one of my favorites, to impress a Parisian !

I miss Paris

Claire is not Rachel

The Rachel comparison makes no sense

All I heard all season was how unimportant Nick was - he was just El’s BFF, comic relief, and so Claire was unimportant

No, the very fact that Nick is NOT a Landry or married to one makes it even more significant that he was given a background and a fiancé. If he was so unimportant, there wouldn’t be a Claire - he wouldn’t need a fiance, we wouldn’t need to know who is father is, etc.

BUT- the writers saw fit to give Nick a cool background. We met his moms, and now his dad…AND he jumped. Nick grew closer to the Landry’s and became enmeshed in their travails.  Why? Because he’s going to be family down the line…he met FERN, Colton’s grandma!!!!

Of course we have the comparisons to Colton and Del…

TWH really got away with

a 40 year old telling an 18 year old

You know you love me, Alice

And the thing is, the way Nick said it was joking, so no one really thought anything of it - it’s brilliant !

And because Alice said “I do…in my own bizarre way”, she also wasn’t taken seriously

But there it is…!

And she responded quickly…

it wasn’t awkward at all, either …they’re at the point where they’re so comfortable with each other

Nick SAID it because he knew from “Claire” that she still loved him - she never stopped, she just moved on as best she could.

Cliff could have gone to Fern

instead of the tunnels

She pleaded with him to come to her before midnight, told him not to be a hero, that he already is one….

But …Cliff ran to what he knew could be a dangerous situation …not despite the fact he knew he was going to be a father, but because …well, of course he did that before he knew, but that extra knowledge lent an extra urgency to his actions

Remember that Cliff told Grayson that he couldn’t look the other way because he wanted to look his future children in the eyes and know that he tried to do the right thing

Although he’d never get to know his son, he was still a man that his son could be proud of …I know she didn’t speak his name, but I’m positive she told their son that he was a good man

I hope that, in the afterlife, father and Don got to know each other

A closer look at the Nick/Alice/Claire of it all

Sorry, I had to edit the Nick photo

If you think about it, were the Nalice scenes necessary to the story they were telling in the now?  No. But the first was necessary to Alice’s development as a person in the future…and the second was just sheer telling us without shouting it out that…yes, Alice IS Claire

The “You know you love me”, her “I do….”, the comparison to Colton and Del….and, look at Nick after Alice asks if she’s ever going to meet Claire. He looks down at first because he needs to avert her eyes so as not to possibly give anything away …

Kerry even took a little breath after this look

We barely see him, but he’s a fantastic actor - he’s had to walk this fine line in Nick knowing who Alice is (Claire - the woman he loves), but not being creepy about it. He did it brilliantly..

And I JUST caught this - look how Alice is tilting her head, with a quizzical expression on her face …right after Nick says “I’m sure you will, one day”

So even in tiny moments, there are larger
implications - for one moment, Alice was wondering …maybe she’s wondering why Nick made it seem like it might be a long time before she meets Claire …”one day” is in the future, and not the near future

The writers had to be ruthless

They simply did not have time to show things like Nick visiting Elliot (and certainly not congratulating him on the proposal, which happened near the end of the finale).

It’s just weird that so many are blaming the writers instead of HM.  HM gave the writers TWO weeks to squeeze in 2 seasons worth of info and endings into a finale …so I’m giving a LOT of grace to Heather, Alex, & Marley

Even with an extended finale, they only had probably just over an hour to literally end the series 1 season early…and people want to see Nick visiting Elliot instead of something like Jacob visiting his 1800’s family?

I’m sorry, but this is one time you need to fill in the blanks with smaller things you know must have happened. The writers kept in only the things they needed …

“You love me, Alice”

Aside from the “Claire and I are going to make a lot of good many memories” on Del & Colton’s boat, “be a regular Del & Colton “, and the “I’m sure you will” to Alice’s wondering if she’ll meet Claire…

Nick literally said “You know you love me, Alice”… talk about a double meaning

And Alice said “I do, in my own highly bizarre way”

Time travel is bizarre

OK, many people just don’t see it - that’s fine. I’m not interested in arguing, and I have no patience for rudeness.

But I loved this scene, and it just confirmed to me what I knew

Evie & Alice

Their scene was one of my favorites in the episode, and that’s saying a lot -

It was so beautiful that Evelyn got to see her old friend again, and then when she morphed into her young Evie self, that WAS magic.

I’m tearing up typing this now - the fact that Evie thought about all the good things she experienced in life, that she was ok…

I just loved this so much.😭😭😭

Fern & Cliff

I can not believe how invested I got in these two - I love them so very much, from their very 20’s flirtatious banter, to the vulnerability that each showed to each other : Cliff wanted to set an example to his future children, and Fern desperately needed someone to make her feel loved, and safe

The scene where Fern learns of Cliff’s death was stunning - the silent agony, the grief…Bianca was phenomenal …she’s extraordinary.

That she got to go back to be with Cliff, to have that moment with him, to let him know he was going to be a father, was so beautiful. And…she could be strong without him because he was still that’s with her, in the house

That she put his letter in the key …😭😭

I needed to see them together again, and I so loved that they were reunited - I know it’s Kat, per a post-finale interview, envisioning Fern, wanting to be sure she was ok..and she was, she got to be with her Cliff after she’d passec

Dan & Bianca were wonderful

Fern & Cliff - give me this & I’ll be happy 🙏

I need Cliff’s name restored. I’ll bet the reason he has not been known to the Landry’s is because Fern was too broken to talk about him…she kept him inside her heart, because talking about him would cause her to break down

Remember when Old Fern told Kat that Landry women are cursed in love when Kat asked OF if she’d ever found a reliable man?

And keep in mind that in the previous sneak peek, Young Fern was in shock - asking why didn’t Cliff kiss her, that you don’t stand a gal up….almost like she had to think negative thoughts so she didn’t break down. She truly was in shock

Fern couldn’t share Cliff with anyone, and part of her was angry at him because it’s easier to be angry than to try and understand why she was being forced to live without him

Before Kat was there for her, Fern had no one to support her - so, with a child to take care of and no family, she couldn’t afford to break down ..

But Kat knew, and Fern didn’t have to be so strong …

So now Kat is there, offering support and love, and Fern doesn’t have to be so strong by herself.

I think that after she jumps to before NYE, and is able to tell Cliff she’s pregnant, presumably have the kiss she needed…that she can more easily live with her memories

Cliff will remembered by her future family, by Kat, Elliot, etc… - that is huge

And hopefully they will reunite - they deserve that. I want Fern to pass peacefully, and for Cliff to take her hand and guide her home

I’ve never seen the movie, but it needs to be like the ending of The Ghost and Mrs. Muir

Finale Sneak Peek

Um

Ok. I was literally on cloud 9 retweeting every Knicks tweet, and now I’m just

😭😭😭😭

Fern is in shock …it’s brutally, beautifully done.

The way she’s focusing on his not kissing her, standing her up, that they were supposed to grow old together…

The look on her face, the resigned, monotone

And…I just realized…they found a body

Fuck

Bianca is extraordinary

Please, writers, give Fern & Cliff their Eternally Ever After - and let it be like the end of The Ghost & Mrs. Muir:

Tubi still hasn’t “uploaded“ or whatever the term is - it’s still not available

Any idea what the time frame is for the this and other shows to become available?

Thanks!
