Did The New Advertising Blocks Roll Out?

This is in reference to the following post; https://old.reddit.com/r/MeTVToons/comments/1ucbifn/weigel_files_for_fcc_waver_of_children_commercial/

I've been watching MeTV Toons tonight and the night before, and it seems like there has been a MASSIVE improvement in the quality of the commercial breaks.

I am not sure if this rolled out for everyone yet, but for me I have not seen a single AI boner pill, leg exerciser, back brace, or your favorite attorney commercial all night. It got SO grating and bleak having to sit through the same 10 commercials in rotation every single night. I can nearly recite the Your Favorite Attorney commercial word for word verbatim.

The commercials airing now are all....well....commercials.....still.......yeah......but they are A LOT better to watch/tolerate now. I have seen commercials for the rocket blower drill thing, the grillbot, Lectric e-Bikes, a Frigidaire stove, airline travel plans, historical coins, luxury bed frames, lotions/skin creme.

There is even new MeTv Toons bumpers rolling out as well. Seen Josie and The Pussycats advertised, and the Cartoon All Stars bumper has been re-edited and remixed with a different arrangement, and I think there's a new Scooby Doo promo too, but I only heard it I didn't get to the TV in time.

I know it sounds hilarious to rant on about commercials, but I love watching commercials - vintage ones anyways - and as a consequence it means you end up pay attention to all commercials as a result - for better or for worse. lol

I am not sure if the MeTV Toons staff listen to fan feedback, but this convinced me that they must be since it seemingly changed overnight pretty much - or within the past month. I know a lot of people have been complaining EVERYWHERE about the annoying ads for a long time. Both on here, YouTube, Facebook groups, it was a pretty big contention among cartoons fans on MeTV. Big ups to them for caring about the viewer experience, as I know it's not something the network can completely dictate or have total autonomy over.

Shopper Disappears After Order Complete

I just had an Instacart order where a shopper appeared, went through the whole process, all items are found, everything good, checkout complete and ready to go to be delivered. Then it just sits there on that screen for awhile - like 20 mins, and then all of a sudden the shopper just disappears from the screen, the order no longer says "checkout complete" and it's back to the shopping screen with "your order is confirmed" and the new delivery window is like 9PM now and the shopper is gone. Did the shopper just like....steal my food and run away with my order or what? I've never had this happen before. Is it a glitch? Refreshed the page many times and there's nothing there. The store closes at 8PM so I'm not sure how 9pm delivery will work.

Good Belt Kit Brands

Can anyone that buys those aftermarket belt kits recommend good "companies" from the "cat walks across the keyboard" brands of generic belt kits that are out there on Amazon or wherever? The only seller that has the OEM belt for my boombox refuses to ship to the USA because he hates the USA, so I'm out of luck. The belt is unobtanium outside of that. I already checked official lists and nobody in the USA carries this model, as its not from the USA.

I'm having trouble disseminating from Amazon reviews which belts are good and which ones are negatively reviewed due to buyer error. I'm fixing a kind of valuable boombox that's somewhat high end and I don't want to ruin it or throw it out of sync with garbage quality junk that slacks out and snaps. Ideally I want one same as OEM, that's sturdy and lasts for decades.

I've seen a lot of those cheap belt kits that look like rats chewed on them before they were packed up. Others look like they are dirty and ashy right out of the bag.

I picked a brand that I think is good (TEANTECH) but I'm not 100% sure. It has better ratio of 5 stars than the rest of them. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BX6NG6PX?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

CyberShot W370 Dead?

Was fixing a Cybershot W370 that the seller stated was "stuck in mexican", and had no image on the screen. OSD worked, no lens image when on.

I disassembled it, jiggled and re-seated wires, image came back on the display, but when zooming in or out, the screen would start flickering black in jagged lines and then start skewing and warping like a fisheye. It would lose the connection from the lens to the motherboard as the barrel moved or got power. And the image from the lens being displayed would warp and get weirdly misshapen before flickering to black and then back again.

I cleaned the wires and re-seated them again, tested again, all good. Every step of the assembly I would turn it on, test it that it was still OK, and then turn it back off. It was doing just fine and was having the time of its life.

When I got to the right side screwing the grounding shield back on, and the control panel for the buttons, it turned on, I zoomed in, then it just shut off totally mid-zoom. I tried everything - 3 other batteries, backing out screws, re-seating the shield, pressing down on the motherboard, nothing. It just flat out will not turn on anymore. I took it all back apart again checked all the cables yet again, and still nothing. I know with some Cybershots if they dont have a complete path from ground tab to ground tab they won't come on, but not all of them do that.

I've had Cybershots taken apart many times before and they do not give a single fuck at all about running while being completely in pieces scattered all over the place, so I'm certain that was not it. Did it flat out just choose to die at this specific moment in time?

The "stuck in mexican" by the way was the camera set to store demonstrator mode, in spanish. The camera still has all its retail shelf stickers plastered on it, makes me wonder if maybe this camera was just a store demonstrator unit that ran plugged in 24/7 and it burned itself out? All the mode and settings buttons are worn to nothing, but all the other buttons and the dial wheel are brand new and the shutter button has no wear and the camera and strap also have no wear at all. The plastic lens over the LCD is also coming unglued from the housing.

Siemens Club 722 Eating Tapes

I have a Siemens Club 722, and it's got a problem.

  • It will start playing tapes fine, and play through the tape fine, if I push play and do not touch it again.

  • If the tape gets nearer the the end of the A side it might start eating tapes.

  • If I push play, then stop or pause, then push play again, it will start eating the tape.

  • When the tapes get eaten, it will loop up into a hoop shape, then get grabbed by the pinch roller, and then wrap itself around the pinch roller.

  • The pinch roller was glazed and dirty, I cleaned it. Problem still persists. The pinch roller is !NOT! rotten, it is still soft and rubbery after being cleaned, and the cleaning seemed to help improve its appearance tenfold. I am not sure if its grooved, it does not look like it is.

  • When I grab the tape spindle with fingers on play or RW, the spindles will stop immediately with strong pressure, and will keep moving between my fingers with gentle pressure, and some rumbling vibration is felt behind the spindle from the belt.

  • A tape torque checker tool reads "fine" on all modes of playback, but the needle was nearer to the "service now" mark but still well within the "normal" parameters (its part of a cleaning kit made for casual enthusiasts and home users and not a refurbishment facility so its not microscopically precise)

Should I put a new belt into this unit, or is there something else that is causing this problem?

Again it will play a tape fine from end to end, but when the tape gets close to the end it will unpredictably eat the tape, sometimes it will sometimes it wont (fun isn't it?). And playing the tape again after stopping the tape midway through will cause the tape to bunch up and it might get eaten.

Door To Door Roofer Cold Call, Scam?

Just had a roofer come to my driveway fence while i was out mowing asking about replacing my roof by going through my insurance. The roof was indeed damaged in winter and I need to save up to replace it, but he claims its not a problem, and that it is still covered, but he was referencing the storms that came through here this month.

He just kept pushing to make the sale and I kept telling him, I'm not sure dude, I can't give you an answer. What he wants to do is go through my insurance and be the middleman, then use my claim to replace the roof, and then I pay him 'a deductible' that he will finance.

His company has 5 stars online and is fully certified and it doesn't look like a scam, but to me this sounds like a scam. I've never heard of anyone doing this before. And my main concern is what's going to happen to my monthly rate I can already barely afford when he makes a claim for a new roof? What if the insurance denies that damage from winter losing some shingles isnt covered?

IMDB Needs Serious Changes

One - it needs the old simple layout back. This AI crap is disgusting.

Two - i hate that the actor photos on imdb use the current year photo of the actor and not the screenshot from the show of them. when you dont know the character's name or the actor's name you need to be able to find them by comparing the photo of how they look in the episode.
