Manny Martinez gets crushed

Anyone else thrilled that the “fuck you, I’m voting for Trump” Manny Martinez who pretended to be nonpartisan/blue got absolutely smoked in his race, despite spending twice as much as Nishioka?

He was such a random guy who followed the Trump playbook of pretending only he could save Salem from homelessness, and that he was the populist.

So long Manny. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

Today’s Statesman-Journal has a strong story outlining how rich conservatives are working to buy city council and how progressives are using people power to fight back.

In it Mayor Spaghetti pretends she can’t influence the gross and misleading attack ads against Nordyke or the other progressive candidates (Vang, Inbody, Varney and Nishioka). It also reminds voters that Mayor Hoy refuses to say she won’t help out major campaign donors when decisions benefitting them come before her for a vote - even though city policy requires recusal in those circumstances, and Gwyn and Hoy were unanimously censured for doing so in the past.
