Igdtuw placement scam

Placement season has barely started, and honestly, the entire process already feels messed up.

  1. Why do the same people keep getting shortlisted for almost every company?

If the shortlist is going to repeatedly contain the same set of people, then what is even the point of making everyone sit for OAs? I’ve seen people getting shortlisted continuously for multiple companies until they finally land an internship/offer, while others barely get a chance.

  1. What is even the point of keeping OAs offline if cheating is still going to happen?

I’m not going to name anyone, but I’ve personally seen cases where invigilators and POCs were helping their friends while stopping others from doing the same. If the process is supposed to be fair, the rules should apply equally to everyone.

  1. People keep talking about how good the placements at this college are, but what are we actually seeing?

<5 companies have come to this college so far. Out of those only 2 have hired only around 5 people combined. Yet we keep hearing about how great the placement scenario here is.

  1. That T&P meeting was honestly frustrating.

Being told that we should be “happy” or “satisfied” with a 7 LPA package is ridiculous. Did we really join this college just to be told that 7LPA should be enough? There’s nothing wrong with accepting a 7 LPA offer, but why should students be made to feel like expecting more is unreasonable?

  1. Why are students whose PPO results are still pending allowed to continue sitting for placements?

If someone has already completed an internship and is waiting for their PPO decision, why should they be allowed to keep participating in the placement cycle and take up other offers? And to be clear, I’m talking about people who haven’t even rejected their PPO.

  1. 2× CTC Rule: Why can students with an X LPA offer sit for a 2X LPA company, potentially wasting the X LPA opportunity?

People who have already interned at good companies, worked at reputed organisations, or even have FAANG experience are still applying for companies offering around 10 LPA. There are literally people with 6-month internships who are still allowed to sit for FTE roles as well.

I genuinely don’t understand how this rule makes sense when all it leads to is wastage of offers.

  1. And why are students with good CGPAs sometimes not even allowed to give the OA?

Recently, when the Novartis shortlist came out, some of my friends with 9+ CGPAs weren’t shortlisted, while people with below 7 CGPA were shortlisted for the OA. Something similar happened with Zomato as well. I’m not saying CGPA should be the only criteria, but when students with significantly better CGPAs are being filtered out while much lower CGPAs make it through, there should at least be some transparency about what the actual criteria are.

  1. Why are SDE roles open to ECE but not IT?

And lastly, I’m from IT, yet recently a company that came for SDE roles was hiring from ECE but not IT. This is especially concerning when the T&P faculty is also the HOD of ECE.

At this point, the biggest issue isn’t even rejection. People can handle rejection if they know the process was fair.

The frustrating part is seeing the same people repeatedly get opportunities, while others aren’t even given a fair shot, and then being told to simply be “satisfied” with whatever comes our way.

If the placement process is supposed to work for students, at least make the rules transparent and consistent for everyone.
