Exactly how you kissed the mother of your daughter's wife...
I mean.... I was watching TSOU as ILF is ongoing, and I came across this scene....

I mean.... I was watching TSOU as ILF is ongoing, and I came across this scene....
To the person who told me I was missing out on something important when I hadn't watched Queendom yet: I LOVE YOUUUUU.
LIKE ACTUALLY. THANK YOU. I don't know what you saw in this show that made you tell me to watch it, but you were RIGHT. I genuinely, genuinely loved this. 😭
Also, before anything else:
my biggest hear-me-out from this entire show is WANMAI.
Not Print. Not Rey. WANMAI.
I fear I have fallen victim to the competent, logical, emotionally restrained woman who treats work as her relaxation method. And honestly? I loved her SO MUCH. But I'll get to that because I need to talk about the actual show first.
I went into Queendom expecting something fun because of the body-swap premise, but I ended up really enjoying how much the story actually did with it. Print and Rey being high-school enemies, ending up cast together in The Doll Mansion without knowing beforehand, and then literally getting their souls swapped after encountering that mysterious woman was such a ridiculous premise in the best possible way. 😭 The whole thing naturally creates chaos because neither of them knows enough about the other's life to properly pretend to be them. The shrimp incident was especially insane because Print doesn't even know Rey's body is allergic and suddenly everyone has to confront the fact that something is VERY wrong.
And I actually liked that the body swap wasn't just used as a gimmick for comedy. It slowly forced Print and Rey to understand why the other person became the way they are. Especially once the whole Glitter Girl competition backstory came out. Print genuinely needed that opportunity to help her family after her father's death, while Rey's mother used her connections to make Rey win. Rey herself wasn't really the villain Print had imagined all those years. That revelation made their entire hatred feel much more complicated, and I loved watching them slowly realize that they had spent years hating each other based on something neither of them fully understood.
Also, Print and Rey are SO CUTE.
That whole photobooth scene??? And when they tear off the last photo where they're kissing??? HELLO??? 😭 It was such a tiny thing but it was adorable. Their relationship gradually becoming affectionate after starting as literal enemies was probably one of my favourite parts of the show.
Although I have to say, their jealousy over Auer had me laughing because BOTH of them were convinced the other one liked him. Meanwhile this poor man is just gay and in love with Print's brother. 😭 The fact that their jealousy was basically based on a completely wrong assumption made it even funnier.
BUT THEN THERE IS WANMAI.
I LOVE THIS WOMAN.
She is always prepared. Always logical. Always thinking ten steps ahead. Work is apparently her version of meditation. Meanwhile Saiphon is out here making impulsive decisions and charming people and Wanmai is basically standing behind her like “why are you like this?”
And somehow these two have the most ridiculous unresolved tension in the entire show.
Because excuse me???
They already had HISTORY.
Saiphon was Wanmai's junior, kissed her on her birthday, Wanmai kissed her back and then apparently decided “she must have been drunk” and walked away.
GIRL. 😭
And then you find out Saiphon's phone password was connected to Wanmai's birthdate??? And Wanmai STILL had Saiphon's birthday banner and old little memories from when they worked together???
THAT WOMAN WAS NOT OVER HER.
And the misunderstanding where Saiphon thinks Wanmai's “junior” might be someone else??? I was losing my mind. The entire time these two were basically carrying around evidence that they had feelings for each other while simultaneously convincing themselves that the other person didn't reciprocate.
And EPISODE 8.
I AM NOT EVEN GOING TO PRETEND I WAS NORMAL WATCHING THAT EPISODE.
The tension between Wanmai and Saiphon had been building for SO LONG and then the show finally let them actually confront those feelings.
THE COUNTERTOP SCENE???
HELLO?????????
😭😭😭😭😭
The push-and-pull afterwards was even better because neither of them suddenly became a completely different person. Saiphon starts talking about getting married and Wanmai finally has her “WAIT A DAMN MINUTE” moment and actually confesses.
Their chemistry was honestly one of my favourite things about the show. Not even because of the physical stuff, but because there was so much history and emotional tension underneath it. Every little interaction between them felt like there was a whole conversation happening that neither wanted to say out loud.
Also, speaking of the body swap... I cannot lie, there were moments where I was sitting there thinking “wait... technically that's not even their body though???” whenever Print/Rey became intimate. 😭 It is such a weird concept to wrap your head around because they are romantically involved with each other while literally inhabiting each other's bodies.
Eventually I just accepted that this is a supernatural GL drama and decided not to interrogate the metaphysics too hard. 😭
The stalker subplot was also surprisingly fun. Print getting creepy comments and Rey noticing that Print was suddenly jealous/possessive despite it technically being her body was such a good little character moment. And then the whole thing escalating to the stalker attacking them and eventually being exposed as their own bodyguard?? I genuinely did not expect that.
I also really liked how the story kept expanding beyond the initial body-swap mystery. The family storylines with both Print and Rey were actually pretty emotional. Rey finding out the full truth about her parents and eventually understanding why her mother had pushed her so hard made her mother's character much more sympathetic than the initial setup suggested. And I loved that Rey eventually got to make her own choice about her career rather than simply following what her mother wanted.
And then Print's mother remarrying, Rey's mother making her acting comeback after twenty years, Print going to Korea for work, Rey becoming a director and eventually making a series inspired by their own story... I REALLY liked that ending. Especially because Rey isn't just sitting around waiting for Print to return — she has built an entire career of her own.
Also, completely random observation for anyone who notices filming locations:
The house Rey lives in is the same shooting location used for the house where Piang lived after leaving her grandmother's house in Chasing Love.
The SECOND I recognized it I was like:
WAIT A SECOND. I KNOW THIS HOUSE. 😭
I love noticing these little Thai GL location overlaps.
And the ending with Wanmai and Saiphon having their own artist management company, living together, Print and Rey eventually getting married, Rey's mother returning to acting, Print coming back, and then Saiphon and Wanmai catching the wedding bouquet was such a cute little final touch.
Obviously those two were going to get that bouquet.
The universe had already decided.
One thing I genuinely still don't understand though:
WHY IS THIS SHOW CALLED QUEENDOM? 😭
Like... I watched the entire thing.
Soul swapping. Enemies-to-lovers. Acting careers. Family drama. Stalkers. Mystery women. Unresolved lesbian feelings from years ago. Korean agencies. Weddings.
And I am STILL sitting here like:
okay but what exactly is the “Queendom” part???
Maybe I'm missing something incredibly obvious, but PLEASE someone explain this title to me because my brain has not connected the dots.
Overall though?
I genuinely LOVED this show.
It was chaotic, sometimes ridiculous, occasionally made me question the logistics of its own supernatural premise, but it was also really cute, funny, surprisingly emotional, and had characters I actually cared about.
Print/Rey were adorable.
Auer was accidentally the funniest man alive by simply being gay while two women thought they were fighting over him.
Saiphon/Wanmai had me FED.
And Wanmai... girl, you have ruined my standards for fictional women.
IF THE ENDGAME IS IRENEGEN I AM GOING TO START STUDYING LAW JUST SO I CAN SUE THIS SCRIPT.
WHY IS THE SHOW CALLED AI GIRL IF AI ISN'T THE GIRL WHO GETS THE GIRL???
YOU SPENT SIX EPISODES MAKING ME FALL IN LOVE WITH:
• the robot who took every sentence literally.
• the robot who proudly announced she was "3 days, 15 hours old."
• the robot who kept asking Gen to give her a name.
• the robot who learned why humans make art.
• the robot who learned jealousy.
• the robot who learned boundaries.
• the robot who learned how to cry.
• the robot who recorded a goodbye video because she knew she might not come back.
YOU SPENT SIX EPISODES SHOWING A MACHINE BECOMING HUMAN THROUGH HER EXPERIENCES WITH GEN.
AND NOW I'M SUPPOSED TO GO,
"Oh okay, same face, different person. Sure."
NO???
THAT'S NOT HOW THIS WORKS.
I DIDN'T FALL IN LOVE WITH THE FACE.
I FELL IN LOVE WITH AI.
HER AWKWARDNESS.
HER NAIVETY.
HER "according to my system..." EVERY FIVE SECONDS.
HER POUTS.
HER GROWTH.
HER LEARNING WHAT LOVE EVEN IS.
ALL OF THAT...
FOR WHAT???
FOR.
WHAT.
YOU CANNOT SPEND AN ENTIRE SEASON ASKING WHETHER A ROBOT CAN BECOME HUMAN...
AND THEN REPLACE HER WITH THE HUMAN WHO LOOKS THE SAME.
THAT COMPLETELY MISSES THE POINT OF YOUR OWN STORY.
I DON'T WANT A DIFFERENT PERSON WITH THE SAME FACE.
I WANT THE 3-DAY-OLD BABY ROBOT WHO GREW UP BEFORE OUR EYES.
ME MIND Y...
I AM BEGGING.
DON'T MAKE ME LOOK AT A SHUT-DOWN AI FOR A WEEK JUST TO TELL ME "ACTUALLY IRENE WAS THE REAL LOVE INTEREST."
GIVE.
ME.
MY.
PRECIOUS.
ROBOT.
(i can't stop crying, help)
Could be because of the age gap, power imbalance, timing, family dynamics, or simply because they brought out the worst in each other. Which pairing made you think, "Yeah... this shouldn't have become a romance."
Mine: Neung and Ar-Neung. The 16-year age gap was already a lot, but adding the fact that Ar-Neung was the daughter of Neung's old friend—who had a crush on her in high school—and Chet being both Ar-Neung's father and almost Neung's husband made the whole dynamic feel way too messy for me. It also felt like Neung herself was uncomfortable crossing that line for most of the story and only ended up going along with it rather than genuinely wanting the relationship.
Doesn't necessarily mean the other person was bad—just that one character put in noticeably more effort. For me, I think it was our green flag Lal, if it wasn't her constant persuasion and efforts... Lal and Wine wouldn't have end up together anyway
This was my first full GL novel that I actually finished cover-to-cover without skipping or dropping. I started it casually and ended up binge-reading huge chunks, especially today—pushing through 200+ pages just to finish because I was hooked. The light-hearted dark comedy vibe the author promised? Delivered. It's chaotic, funny, spicy, emotionally heavy, and surprisingly wholesome by the end.
We meet Panapsorn (Pan), a stunning woman working at a high-end lounge club. The villagers and society label her a "prostitute," and she’s internalized it hard. Her self-worth is in the gutter. She believes she’s unworthy of real love, that she’s only good for one thing at night, and even kind gestures feel suspicious. Lines like her thinking she’s a “fallen angel” or “not suitable for anyone” hit heavy. She holds onto dignity despite everything—refusing to cross certain lines, never sleeping with clients casually, and carrying herself with quiet pride even when the world spits on her. Her family situation is toxic too: a harsh father who’s ashamed of her, a mother who relies on her financially but can’t fully shield her, and siblings who vary in support.
Enter Phakinee (Pheem), the arrogant, high-society heiress. She’s rich, beautiful, sharp-tongued, and looks down on Pan’s world. Pheem hires Pan as “bait” for business deals, treating her like a tool at first. The contempt is palpable—judging her outfits, paying high prices while sneering internally, and buying her for the night specifically so “no one else can have her.” Pheem tells herself it’s just business or to block rivals like Techin, but there’s this mix of attraction, jealousy, and superiority complex.
Early on, Pheem does these “helpful” but humiliating things with hateful internal reasons:
Pheem is brutally arrogant and humiliating at the start—scolding Pan, assuming the worst, throwing money around like it proves superiority. There’s even insecurity later where Pheem worries about not being a man and not being able to “satisfy” Pan fully, which adds raw vulnerability to her tsundere/rude exterior.
The prologue sets up the core question: “Can We Love Each Other?” with Pan doubting her right to love and Pheem doubting if someone like Pan can stay.
From there it’s a rollercoaster. Misunderstandings, business rivalries (Techin, Songsak, Wang—great side characters who add tension and later clarity), family drama, public scandals, and slow-burn tension. Pheem’s friends Phiangrak and Thanwa are absolute MVPs—the voice of reason, teasing, supporting, and calling out Pheem’s bullshit. Their group dynamic is gold and provides a lot of the comedy/light relief.
Character Development is chef’s kiss:
Their families add depth: Pan’s messy, judgmental one vs. Pheem’s complicated but ultimately supportive one (her dad is surprisingly wise and accepting). The mother-in-law/daughter-in-law resolution and Pimlada’s backstory are poignant.
The spicy scenes? Extremely well-done—steamy, emotional, not gratuitous. They feel earned and show intimacy, trust, and Pheem’s playful/dominant side balanced with care. The toy scenes, the “gift” ribbon moment on Pan’s birthday, the penthouse night—hot, detailed, and character-driven. Super nice balance of sweet and spicy.
Overall as a Book Critic (This Shii is My New Favorite)
This is a 10/10 for me. Reverse nailed the “dark comedy / light-hearted stress relief” promise. Social satire on sex work stigma, class differences, family toxicity, and women’s struggles is sharp but never preachy—the humor (husky puppy chaos, Pheem’s tsundere meltdowns) keeps it fun. The romance builds realistically from toxicity to healing partnership. Quotes like Pheem’s scoldings early on contrast beautifully with her later “I’ll be the person you can rely on” vows.
It hooked me because the characters feel real—flawed, growing, messy. Pan’s quiet resilience and Pheem’s loud redemption arc are addictive. By the end, the epilogue and wedding/family resolutions feel earned and warm.
If you like GL with strong character growth, enemies-to-lovers (with a side of buy-her-time trope), family healing, and spicy well-written scenes, read this. Huge thanks to translator Sun Yan for making it accessible.
Anyone else read it? What were your favorite moments—Pheem’s husky collapse, the anonymous customer reveal, the birthday reconciliation, or something else? Discuss!
if anybody had it downloaded, please consider sharing it over here, I wanna see it one last time, sadly I haven't got it recorded.... thankyou
