First two pictures are from last night and the last picture is maybe 2-3 months ago.
We’ve had our fly traps for a little over 4 months now and they were doing great until one wasn’t. It was like overnight all the traps turned black and even the ones growing in had turned black.
Originally my wife put the nursery pot in the ceramic pot and we planted it with carnivorous plant soil. Someone suggested I take it out of there because it could be storing water. So I took her out (rhizome is still alive and well) and sure enough, stagnant water was below. So I ditched the nursery pot and put fresh new soil in. The pot has a built in saucer to hold water so I usually fill it up when it’s empty. Is the algae growth on top a reason why? Please help 😔

Hey yall I have no idea WHAT happened to my wife’s VFT. The first pic is from today (July 29) and the second pic is just from 2 weeks ago (July 14). We got them back in May and they’ve been doing good. Inside under grow lights 14+ hours, distilled water always. I know black traps are normal but this much? At one time? It’s concerning to me…. Thank you 😔

Sunflowers that live outside. Recently noticed these brown splotches. Cut off all the ones that had a lot of splotches. What should I do from here? And if getting an insecticide, which one should I use for best results?
1st pic is from yesterday and 2nd pic is July 13, just about a week ago.

- She’s outside all day but on a north facing balcony so I would estimate she gets about 10ish hours of sunlight from when the sunrises in the morning and then again when it sets.
- I usually water when it’s about 1-2in dry when I put my finger in.
- I use happy frog potting mix

These lil guys are my world. Super jealous of my wife’s trap but my lil guy is coming along just fine. 😭

These are my peppers I planted last month and just the other day moved to their own cups. I’m waiting for them to get a bit bigger so I can transfer them into some big pots outside. I’m so excited!!
I also have some strawberry seeds stratifying right now in the fridge that should be ready to go by mid August.

AHHHH I finally got a summer series. I loved them when they first dropped but they sold out super quick online but I’m glad I found him at a nearby shop! I’m so happy!

I got my baby almost a month ago from a carnivorous plant store and since I’m a first time mom (lol) I was stressing tf out. She has 2 dying traps currently but lots of new green growth and 2 new mature traps. I’m so happy.

I love them so much! If only there was a place in Louisiana that sells them in-store because as much as I love ordering online, I want the satisfaction of taking them home right away.
Probably going to add strings of fairy lights to add some extra pizzazz.

Noticed our pothos had chomps taken out of it. After further inspection found a fat caterpillar on the stem. Plucked it off with some tweezers and my wife’s Venus fly trap had some lunch.

Got these babies 2 weeks ago and I think they’re doing great. My question is: is this coloring normal? Like the reddish-orange on the outside?

It’s been super rainy this week here in Louisiana so I’ve been keeping all my plants including new lil guy (VFT) outdoors on the balcony. The dish its in just has regular rain water (I just bought a TDS meter and it read 32 *perfect 😃*). I really want to take him out of the container he’s in now and get a more decorative setup and needed some advice or recs on creating a bog. Any advice is welcome! Thanks all I’m so excited to watch my guy grow.

I got this little guy a little over a week ago. For the most part, I’ve kept him and my other plants outdoors. (It’s been pretty rainy here in New Orleans, LA so I’ve brought them inside while it’s storming.) He is in a pot that has rain water. I noticed one of the mouths is black, is this normal? How should I go about this? Also, some of the mouths are closed and haven’t opened.
