This is my first attempt at growing a crystal. I used a 1.5” white pipe cleaner to seed it within a concentrated [4 tbsp/cup] Borax solution for 24 hours. I suspended it by tying thread through the letter’s loop, finding the appropriate height, and looping it around a bamboo skewer. I’ve now sprayed it with Krylon Triple-Thick Crystal Clear Glaze.
Things I would have done different: the time or concentration was too high and I ended up creating a massive mold of the bottom of the Mason jar; food coloring will not magically infuse with Borax; food coloring and alcohol will not adhere and make it deep hero purple.
And finally I would have removed the suspension thread immediately upon harvesting since snipping it allows it to be seen. Fortunately the letter D is reversible.

I guess this is just a post to show someone a project I have been working on for months. I have a 93-year old friend in Los Angeles that mentioned awhile back she used to love playing with paper dolls when she was a child. So I decided to surprise her with a custom made collection with three models inspired by vintage movie stars: Lauren Bacall, Ava Gardner, and Audrey Hepburn.
I am finally to the production phase. So this is a draft test print with bleed’ed edges [bled just sounded wrong]. Tomorrow will be running it through my Cricut machine. And then finally the high quality version will be printed on magnetic sheets so she can display/play/laugh with them on her refrigerator.
Believe me, it has been quite the process and project. Gemini has not been very cooperative nor understanding regarding 1) not adding folding tabs, 2) making the clothing conform to the model’s actual stance—shoulder to shoulder, waist, legs and arms angles, 3) rendering clothes without model body parts, and 4) maintaining a consistent resolution. So wish me good luck! Hopefully the first model and set of clothes will be in the mail in just a few days.
Eighty years ago, in 1946, the famous mathematician Paul Erdős proposed what he thought was the answer, but no one had been able to prove or disprove his conjecture. At least, not until now.
[Hopefully this isn’t a duplicate post. I didn’t find it previously posted.]
Okay, I swear at the beginning of the finale, Rob Lowe announced there had been originally 100 contestants at the beginning. So how does “she” have 80 pieces with five choices of category? Where did spaces disappear to?
I am currently binging season four and I have absolutely loved the segments where these two have provided color commentary. I wish we had even more of this kind of energy in season five. I adore Rob Lowe, but it would also be nice to have this alternate perspective.
Chase was absolutely adorable in her interview on last night’s episode of The Daily Show. I am so invested in this series and excited to see where these young ladies journeys take them. Plus it’s awesome it hear it has already been picked up for a second season.
[This image gives off strong “I am a God!” energy.]
