Week 13 update!

It’s Virginia Gold. Planted outside on 7/2. It’s hot out here in the desert and this week will be up to 110°. They’ll be okay though because they’ve already endured temperatures up to 118°. I’m
Hoping they’ll flower soon so I could harvest some of the leaves.

Week 11 walkthrough

They are enduring the California heat. It’s been 110° plus for a week. A few of the Virginia Gold plants are looking really good and the rest a little crispy. At this point Im only concerned that they are healthy and growing. I really hope they can endure this month’s heat and get to flowering stages. Cheers friends and have a nice Sunday!

What’s causing this?

I have a dozen Virginia Gold plants and all of them growing somewhat decent. This one in particular is growing in kind of funny? The leaves are growing in deformed and crinkly.

I thought the sun may have been burning the new leaves. Is this a disease or deficiency? I give them all plant food once a week and water them every 24 hours.

Mini crop update

Spouted on may 29th then planted outside July 2nd. Finally got a plant food and watering system dialed in. This is Virginia gold and they look a little crispy from the 116° weather we had last week.

Mini shaded crop update

With many adjustments they’re finally growing properly. I think and hope in a week or two they’ll look much better. I’ve added intake and exhaust fans for daytime fresh air. Bone meal a few days ago. Then another round of neem oil/castile soap/fertilizer. I’ve removed the crispy bottom leaves and the main leaves are getting greener. I really appreciate all of your wisdom and opinions so please let me know if there’s anything else I could try to improve these babies.

Day after Neem Oil

Sprayed them last night and they seem to be okay but a little wrinkly. Any tips on how to maintain their health? I also removed some curl leaf that were growing in funny and most likely from the whiteflies.

What’s causing this?

On a couple of my plants they grew in a little funny on a few leaves. Anyone have ideas on what causes this? The neem oil was a success from my last post. I tested one plant and it got rid of 95% of the flies.

Photos 1 and 2 are my question about the leaves
Photos 3 and 4 are the neem oil tested plant.

Any feedback, opinions and recommendations would be wonderful. Cheers friends.

Whiteflies caught (for now)

Hey friends thanks to your recommendations and feedback I was able to capture hundreds of the flies with a glue trap. Then added mini glue traps to each pot. I test sprayed one of the plants with neem oil and hopefully it’ll be okay tomorrow. If successful I’ll spray the rest of them o we the next day or two.

Aphids? Whiteflies? Gnats?HELP!

Hey friends here’s an update on my Virginia Gold mini crop. From what I read I think these might be whiteflies. Would anyone know if these are bad and how to address them? The plants are still growing strong and some of them have a 6th leaf now. Mini irrigation system and fully shaded enclosure. It’s the California desert and today’s temperature was 110°.

Could anyone please recommend a solution for the flies? Cheers Friends.

Just transplanted

Hey friends I was hoping for your opinion on my Virginia gold crop. I started 48 sprouts, then down to 24, then down to 12. Lost one to the wind yesterday. I live in the California desert so it’s hot and windy. I built a shade enclosure and to provide shade but also protect from the wind gusts. Are they looking okay so far? They sprouted May 29th and these photos are from today. Cheers and please comment your thoughts and opinions.
