Question about Guardromon (Gold)

Question about Guardromon (Gold)

There are instances where a special move is shared by more than one Digimon. The NX Royal Knights come to mind, and the Guardromons do as well. Luckily, there is a post on both GameFAQs and Reddit that have crit rates for all the moves that say, "Tends to critical more often"

→ GameFAQs ← → Reddit ←

Guardromon (Gold)'s D-Grenade isn't listed anywhere though. Has anyone out there discovered the crit rate for this move? Or is it another oversight mistake akin to Mirage Burst's mistranslation? Thanks in advance!

Event Battle: Smoke and Mirror Contest (How to Win text version)

Sadly, my video editing software fricked me, so I won't be able to have a proper video out this time around for the current EB. Maybe next time (also if anyone knows a good/decent video editing software--that would be awesome. I'm considering the Movavi Video Editor from Steam as an alternative)

So lets make this a concise "How-To-Win" text thread. Read the very bottom part if you understand the game and just wanna peep the cheat sheet answer ↓

Da Rules

  1. Fixed at Lv. 50. Trained stats are off
  2. 100 Max Memory Use
  3. Fire Digimon gain +50% ATK/DEF/INT/SPD
  4. Magic Attacks are nullified

To understand this better, these are the Fire Digimon that get a boost:

In-Training: Koromon

Rookies: Agumon, Agumon (Blk), Gabumon, Gabumon (Blk), Guilmon, Dracomon, Hackmon, Shoutmon

Champions: Agunimon, Garurumon, Garurumon (Blk), Kyubimon, Growlmon, Greymon, Greymon (Blue), GeoGreymon, Tyrannomon, Birdramon, BaoHuckmon, Meramon

Ultimates: BurningGreymon, Garudamon, SaviorHuckmon, SkullMeramon, DoruGreymon, BlueMeramon, Volcanomon, WarGrowlmon, MetalGreymon, MetalGreymon (Blue), RizeGreymon

Megas: Imperialdramon DM, WarGreymon, Gaiomon, KaiserGreymon, Gankoomon, ShineGreymon BM, PileVolcamon, BlackWarGreymon, Hououmon, Megidramon, Flamedramon, OmniShoutmon

~

Out of these, I would absolutely avoid Kyubimon, Birdramon, Garudamon, Imperialdramon DM, and Hououmon. You *could* advocate for them if they're skilled properly and do NOT use their special. But to grasp why you should use Fire Digimon? MagnaGarurumon (SV) is extremely fast, but Imperialdramon DM--a slow-ish mon, right? +50% more SPD means they become faster than the 2nd fastest Digimon in the game... ...wow. Yeah.

Nullified magic specials is also key to know. Don't wanna somehow lose a fight because we forget that magic attacks deal 0 damage. ... ...like I have XD

Da Missions

Mission 01: Fight 5 ~ 15 ~ 25 times with a frontline battle party of Fire Digimon.
Mission 02: Use auto-attack over 10 ~ 15 ~ 20 times in battle ––including combos and counters.
Mission 03: Inflict over 300 ~ 600 ~ 1200 damage on an opponent in battle.

The truth is: you don't have to win. You just have to play. Do NOT rage quit. Play it out. Auto-attack a bunch when you can. And just use a certain Digimon you think will hit hard, and do it. That's basically it.

~

The NPC Opponents

~Type/Attribute statistics~

Out of 19 total Digimon we face:
6/19 are Vaccines, and 3 out of those 6 are Vaccine/Fire.
3/19 are Datas, and 2 out of those 3 are Data/Wind.
5/19 are Viruses, and 4 of those 5 are Virus/Fire.
Lastly, 5/19 are Free type, and 2/5 are Free/Dark as well as 2/5 Free/Fire.

For just the attribute? 9/19 are Fire. 5/19 are Wind. 2/19 are Light. 2/19 are Dark. And 1/19 is Neutral. Your main threats are BlackWarGreymon appearing thrice. WarGreymon, and ShineGreymon appearing twice. ShineGreymon BM appears only once, but that's enough..

000 (All mons are faster than 228 SPD.)
BlackWarGreymon - Virus/Fire.
ShineGreymon - Vaccine/Light
WarGreymon - Vaccine/Fire

009 (Imperialdramon DM is faster than 285 SPD. Diaboromon are as fast as 248 SPD[They sped-tied with my Garurumon at 248 SPD)
Diaboromon - Free/Dark
Imperialdramon DM - Free/Fire
Diaboromon -Free/Dark

013 (Everyone's faster than 216 SPD. Flamedramon is faster than 263 SPD.)
ExVeemon - Free/Neutral
AeroVeedramon - Vaccine/Wind
Flamedramon - Free/Fire

020 (Is faster than 221 SPD. 369 SPD outspeeds them.)
WarGrowlmon - Virus/Fire

027 (207 SPD is faster than Breakdramon.)
Breakdramon - Virus/Earth
BlackWarGreymon - Virus/Fire
ShineGreymon - Vaccine/Light

036
MirageGaogamon - Data/Wind
Examon - Data/Wind
Jesmon - Data/Neutral

053 (all faster than 248 SPD)
BlackWarGreymon - Virus/Fire
ShineGreymon BM - Vaccine/Fire
WarGreymon - Vaccine/Fire

~

If you've read this far, I'll give my best advice on how to win.

  • EQUIP BOTH FLARE GUARD DX, and DARK GUARD DX. PLEASE.
  • ShineGreymon BM is the best Digimon here, but if you don't have them, then you want to know who's gonna be your carry. ShineGreymon BM is the only answer, but others can include WarGreymon, or KaiserGreymon. "Why not BlackWarGreymon?" Because this EB only has 3 Data Digimon to fight, and too many Vaccines to deal with. That's not enough to validate them on the frontline, even if Dragon's Wrath and their specials are all very good.
  • have 100 Max Memory to use, so have some Digimon in the backline––especially for 035's evasive Data squad. I had mons like KaiserGreymon with the focus on Viruses like Megidramon, BlackWarGreymon, Gaiomon, MetalGreymon (Blue)'s, or BlueMeramon.
  • You need 1 or 2 good supportive Digimon for your carries. Great stats to have are the HP, SP, DEF, and mostly imporantly––SPD. I would recommend someone who is a great bundle that not only has great supportive skills(Safety Guard, Status Barrier, Support End, Hit Charge, ATK Charge Field, ATK Break Field, etc..)---but also has a great passive, and are very fast with high SP.
    • Some great examples of this are:

Digital Hazard - Increases both ATK and damage dealt by Fire and Dark skills by 10%
Megidramon - Fire/Virus. Very fast.
Meggido Flame is very strong when you don't need to click supportive skills in battle.

Dragon's Roar - Increases damage from Fire skills by 15%
WarGreymon: Fire/Vaccine. Has AOE damage

Wind-Flame, Ice-Sword - Increases damage dealt by Fire, Wind, Plant, and Earth skills by 8%.
KaiserGreymon: Fire/Free. Being Free type makes them a good pick against anyone
Firedrake Strike is very powerful. They can be spec'd with an off-support role as well

~

The Fire Digimon with DEF-penetrating special moves can also be strengthened by the EB and/or some passives, such as Volcanomon, WarGreymon, and BlackWarGreymon.

BlueMeramon is interesting on paper since they're a Fire Digimon with a physical Water special.

Some interesting picks for having strong Physical Water specials despite not being a Fire Digimon:
Kentaurosmon - 105 DMG AOE
Valkyrimon - 130 DMG single-target
Vikemon - 125 DMG single-target
BlueMeramon - 100 DMG single-target
Panjyamon - 110 DMG single-target
Crescemon - 100 DMG single-target
Neptunemon - strong DEF-Penetrate DMG

~

But again, speed is very important to have for contests like these. The fastest Digimon in the game––Leopardmon LM––with a Nimble Personality and their Support Skill in battle. They'll have a total of 250 SPD. Fire Digimon that become close to that, or are faster with the 50% boost include:
OmniShoutmon w/o Nimble: 247 SPD
Garurumon w/ Nimble: 248 SPD
Gaiomon w/ Nimble: 247 SPD
ShineGreymon w/o Nimble: 249 SPD

So, the ideal Fire physical supporters IMO are:

Digimon HP / SP / DEF / SPD Support Skill (passive)
Agunimon 1130 / 88 / 93 / 119 (+20% SPD, –10% ATK)
Garurumon 890 / 108 / 94 / 138 (+15% SPD)
Flamedramon 1130 / 93 / 99 / 138 (+20% ATK below ~50% HP)
RizeGreymon 1530 / 94 / 109 / 143 (+20% ATK below ~50% HP)
SaviorHuckmon 1380 / 94 / 128 / 144 (+50% ATK below ~10% HP)
*Volcanomon 1530 / 82 / 119 / 125 (–15% Damage reduction)
PileVolcamon 1330 / 109 / 163 / 137 (–15% Damage reduction)
Gaiomon 1630 / 99 / 129 / 158 (+20% Damage dealt/taken)
Gankoomon 2080 / 90 / 163 / 138 (Safety Guard proc's if Max HP is over 50%)
Megidramon 1690 / 120 / 132 / 153 (+10% ATK, Fire & Dark skill damage)
OmniShoutmon 1510 / 141 / 144 / 165 (+8% ATK/combo probability)

~

So basically, my 100% winrate team I don't recall losing with was:

  • 1x or 2x Flare Guard DX, and 1x Dark Guard DX equipped to everyone. Master Guard for the 3rd optional.
  • ShineGreymon - Fighter - Acceleration Boost → Final Shining Burst faceroll the game.
  • OmniShoutmon - Nimble - Safety Guard, Status Barrier, Hit Charge.
  • SaviorHuckmon - Nimble - Safety Guard, Hit Charge, Status Barrier.
  • 3x MetalGreymon (Blue) - Fighters - Revenge Flame spam and laugh your ass off versus 035.

Dunno how much time left there is, but good luck with this EB whenever it comes up again. ♥

Titamon's clutch victory

Very close call. I only started out with a Earth frontline for testing the capabilities of the three Digimon in how well they work together for the Electric Boogaloo EB. The NPC locked in and got a couple of criticals, leading to this moment. My heart sank after seeing the Accel Boost. Shoutouts to Titamon for that extremely clutch victory. I was popping off at his win-screen.

And now onto the next Event Battle! New video coming soon.~

Miracle Bomb is weird

CatchMamemon's run animation is hilarious and fun. That aside, its special move is one of the most unique ones in the game. My original plan was to end the fight with CatchMamemon's special attack to get their win screen, but then.. that happened. If that Event Battle opener clip confused you too –– then feel free to enjoy this mini-video guide about this interesting attack.

Also, off-recording, I got a instance where the Banana-slot MB got a critical hit, but it didn't deal damage and it didn't even work since Vademon existed on the field. Neat.

Speed demon saving → Anxiety save = true combo. (I was in too much shock)

I put the controller down at 0:06 because I was done---is what I thought. I was too in too much shock to compute what I did. Did I press the save sequence too fast that it straight-up DELETES my bundle file??? I dunno you tell me..

I was so scared. Half of my existence was ready to quit this game cold-turkey right then and there..

u/Seipherise — 1 month ago

Mu-mu-mu-monster kill-kill-kill-kill...

I clipped because:

  1. Now THAT'S a lot of damage!
  2. Safety Guard is that good. Survived a multi-hit Chain Attack of that caliber. I waited because Grey(Blue) was getting up--but also because I was surprised by Safety Guard taking a 3-hit combo that should've killed. Maybe I considered SG = Focus Sash in PKMN games.
  3. Apparently KendoGarurumon has a Lion roar SFX???? HUH?? (0:25)

PSA about Digimon that require training and/or patching. Avoid some Digivolution paths (includes table + tier list)

I've been meaning to make more Digimon videos as content for these games, but I haven't finalized it all yet. Despite that, I wanted to share my thoughts and make this post for all of you. So yes––this is with both the old(PS Vita/PS4) and new(Switch/PC) ports in mind. ABI and training go hand-in-hand, and this information puts it into a bigger perspective for the older platforms because ABI only capped at a max 100. Hacker's Memory on all platforms(?) and the newer Complete Edition ports on more recent platforms increased ABI to a max 200. Even so, some Digi-paths should still be avoided. Some easy examples:

Veemon → Magnamon. Why? Because Guardomon (Gold) can, and doesn't require training.

MegaSeadramon → Leviamon. Why? ShogunGekomon doesn't need training or patching, but also because this is Leviamon's worst path. Others are better.

Arcadiamon Ultimate → Creepymon. Why? While Creepymon can only be achieved via training no matter which four Ultimates you have––Arcadiamon would technically be the worst choice if you tried for the earliest Digivolution at Lv. 60.

Of course, there are regular Digi-paths that do not require ABI, training, or a patch. Terrible paths you should never opt for include: Kudamon→Lobomon, Keramon→Wizardmon, or Terriermon→Rapidmon (Gold) just to name a few. They aren't the focus, but it's certainly nice to know to help avoid those. But yeah.. all of the Digi-paths you'll see below are impossible to reach, even with a Max Lv. 99 and with a Personality patch boost. Yet, instead of considering minimal training effort with maximum level grinding ––– what if we did maximum training effort with minimal level grinding? This takes the "Level XX required" Digivolution requirement into full consideration now.

More info can be found in my sheet I made geared on this topic too.

Note about Luce → Luce FM:
-This Digi-path is the dumbest thing you've ever seen. It's so frustrating––that you can't even achieve it at the minimum level 55 requirement. It's fake. 200 ABI on the newer platforms is still impossible at level 55. Level 71 is the absolute lowest/earliest level to be possible with optimal training. On the old platforms, though?? You would be level 99, and still need +82 ATK and +17 SPD trained, which is 97/100 of your bonus trained points. That means the earliest level possible, was like.. Lv. 97 or 98. That's very infuriating, and it just makes me wonder if Lucemon Satan Mode was even worth getting and using.

If ANY other Digi-paths need something close to, or need more than 100 bonus trained points? Then that's dumb and sucks.

Anyways! Thanks for stopping by. Have a tier list image of training/patching too––

Some Digimon in the Training section can also be mentioned in the patching section too. I won't list them all. You can visit my google sheet to find out more.

To give some advice and shoutouts about the training section:

  • For Alphamon, I'd go with DoruGreymon. Avoid Grademon unless you don't mind it.
  • For Creepymon, it's a toss-up. Go with whichever one you think is best.
  • For Belphemon SM, I'd pick Digitamamon. Wisemon requires too much HP training.
  • For Lilithmon, go with LadyDevimon. Lilamon is only a bit worse. Both are fair picks.
  • For Valkyrimon, Silphymon is the only one that doesn't need training.
  • For Titamon, Digitamamon is the only one that doesn't need patching or training.
  • For VenomMyotismon and Piedmon, you should avoid Wisemon if you want either.
  • For Jesmon, avoid Duramon. Choose SaviorHuckmon.
  • For Gallantmon, MetalTyrannomon's the only one that doesn't need patching or training.
  • For Leopardmon, pick GrapLeomon and patch if you wanna avoid training.
  • For Barbamon, avoid BlueMeramon and Myotismon. Stick with Phantomon.
  • For BlackWarGreymon, avoid MetalTyrannomon. Go with MetalGreymon (Blue).
  • For HerculesKabuterimon, MegaKabuterimon's the sole mon that doesn't need anything.
  • For Mastemon, avoid Angewomon. Primary LadyDevimon for DNA Digivolution.
  • For Machinedramon, avoid Datamon. Megadramon is the best pick.
  • For Crusadermon, pick MagnaAngemon and patch if you wanna avoid training.
  • For Alphamon Ouryuken, avoid Ouryumon. Primary Alphamon for DNA Digivolution.
  • For Omnimon, avoid WarGreymon. Primary MetalGarurumon for DNA Digivolution.
  • For Magnamon, avoid Veemon, as much as you don't want to. Pick Guardromon (Gold).
  • For Ouryumon, avoid Crowmon. Grademon or Hisyaryumon are better.

Ranking Crit-related Digimon (Current Event Battle relevance)

My opinion about how good these mons are in the current Event Battle. Some slots might vary a little(like Sistermon Ciel), but everyone is ordered –– except the unranked ones in the teal and blue tiers. Everything was considered in the thought-process, such as: stats, their solo impact as well team impact with the Event Battle theme+high tiers, their special with built-in crit-rate, and support skill passive.

Coredramon(G) is C-tier, but could theoretically be a B-tier, A-tier, or S-tier if Gekirin was proc'd just enough times while staying alive somehow? IDK.

What do y'all think? What non-crit mons deserve mention? Etc..

Immovable object vs. an unstoppable force

So I was browsing my Digifarms to experiment with EXP farming and making a Digifarm guide someday--but then I forgot about it in time--and then noticed this clip in my Switch folder.

.

Well then.

u/Seipherise — 2 months ago

So my Digimon are all huge now. How? Has this happened to anyone else??

Will they go back to normal size if I close the game and restart it back up? I couldn't tell ya exactly when this started happening today, but I was just grinding levels for 3 Digimon by getting skills. I've become so many Digimon--I couldn't say when the trigger might've happened. Battling is normal, so.

I've played this game for years. First time this has happened. I couldn't even tell you how to replicate it.

Event Battle: Viral Rivalry Contest!

After getting home, I tried this EB out. Needless to say, there wasn't as much suffering! Lucky me.

All the images tell the story. Here's the gist.

First, here are what the rules really say:

  • You can have Lv. 99 Digimon, but you just can't have your boosted/trained (+)stats.
  • Mix some good mons that are cheap memory with some luxury picks too.
  • Virus Digimon get hella bonus stats. Virus Digimon with support skills that augment a stat like ATK, or INT are especially good here. SkullGreymon, MetalGreymon (Blue), BlackWarGreymon, Brakedramon, Megidramon, ChaosGallantmon, Gallantmon, and Gallantmon Crimson Mode all say hi♥
  • "random abnormal status at end of turn"abnormal status effects never appear. This is probably a translation error. It's actually just a random stat buff or reduction that occurs for every Digimon's turn. This can still be bad if you're getting stacked with debuffs, but Digimon like MetalSeadramon says hi♥. Since stat buffs could benefit you, Piximon and Magnadramon say hi♥.

Feel free to try anyone you think is best too! Virus Digimon that simply have really good stat spread can most likely carry their own weight.

I used two sets: Set 3 and Set 4. A supportmon will always have a Safety Guard skill in case you need to survive without using healing skills for the 2nd mission. The anchors that deal heavy damage always carry Acceleration Boost, etc.. Speaking of missions––

Mission 01 - Have 2 to 0 ally Digimon become unable to fight in a single battle. Gankoomon, Jesmon, and Kerpymon(Good) served me well in getting this complete.

Mission 02 - Win 3-20 battles without using recovery skills. My Set 4 team party clutched it for me. If I faced a AI opponent that started out with 3 Vaccines, then I just changed my battle party to be more in favor. Just Wake. Win. Repeat. Important note: both support skills and special moves that end up healing you doesn't count as healing skills, so they're in the clear. Digimon like Rosemon BM say hi♥.

Mission 03 - Use Attack over 5-15 times in battle (includes counters and combos). You can opt for niche Digimons for this challenge. Jesmon, MetalGreymon(Blue), anyone that comes to mind, etc.. An easy strategy is also just deleting the two most dangerous enemy Digimon, and leaving the weakest for last so you can just wham on them while you mash A to Attack spam.

-

General strategy: I equipped Master Guards on everyone multiple times. Digimon with more equip slots helps a ton. Have 1-3 anchors that deal heavy damage with Accel Boost + Penetration special move. Have 1-2 supports that use Safety Guard or Field buff skills to accommodate your battle party. Finally, know who's top priority in who you have to defeat first in every battle. After observing Network Battle for a few hours, and noticing a certain user's comment, these are your opponents this season:

005, 011, 020, 033(wasn't mentioned, but I encountered them. Feel free to update your list if you want u/Yamato-san), 034, 049, 050, 051, and 054

005TETTOUTETSUBI
TigerVespmon, Ravemon, MarineAngemon
Virus/Electric, Vaccine/Wind, Vaccine/Water

011MOTOYANKIGIRL
Digimon: MetalEtemon, Boltmon, Minervamon
Type/Attribute: Virus/Earth, Data/Electric, Virus/Neutral

020DKCRIMSONMODE
Digimon: WarGrowlmon
Type/Attribute: Virus/Fire

033STEAMPUNKERS
Digimon: HiAndromon, Boltmon, RustTyrannomon
Type/Attribute: Vaccine/Electric, Data/Electric, Virus/Electric

034TENSINOOSIGOD
Digimon: Susanomon, Imperialdramon PM, Kentaurosmon
Type/Attribute: Vaccine/Light, Vaccine/Light, Vaccine/Light

049CHOIWARUOYAJI (Probably the hardest NPC to fight.)
Digimon: RustTyrannomon, Kerpymon (Blk), TyrantKabuterimon
Type/Attribute: Virus/Electric, Virus/Dark, Virus/Plant

050ROSECROSSVAMP
Digimon: Piedmon, Kerpymon (Blk), LadyDevimon
Type/Attribute: Virus/Dark, Virus/Dark, Virus/Dark

051ANGELOFLEGEND
Digimon: MagnaAngemon, Varodurumon, Magnadramon
Type/Attribute: Vaccine/Light, Vaccine/Light, Vaccine/Light

054ELECTGROOOOVE
Digimon: Boltmon, Ebemon, HiAndromon
Type/Attribute: Data/Electric, Virus/Electric, Vaccine/Electric

-

Here are some observational hints at a glance:

-In total, there are 12 Virus Digimon. 4 out of 12 are Electric. And 4 others out of 12 are Dark. BanchoLeomon♥
-In total, there are 10 Vaccine Digimon. 6 out of 12 are Vaccine/Light from just two opponents. Dorugoramon♥
-Boltmon is the only Data Digimon that appears. 3 out of 3 times. Data/Electric? Shoutouts to PlatinumNumemon♥, Brakedramon♥, Puppetmon♥, or Titamon♥
-HiAndromon, Kerpymon (Blk), and RustTyrannomon all appear twice. Very educational.

All of them are beatable with a game-plan, unless 049 decides to be really mean to you. That concludes this event battle. You're welcome to share your Sets of teams you tried this time around! Thank for reading.

New Event Battle: Viral Rivalry Contest

Ignore my Party Digimon, but these are the images I took of the new event battle. As a community, what are anyone's thoughts about this? This sounds like a lot of pain before I've even tried it. What would y'all do to complete the missions?
