TIL that in october 1960, just a few weeks before the presidential election, Martin Luther King was arrested in Atlanta for participating in a protest. But thanks, in part, to JFK he was released shortly afterwards

About this MLK said "i owe a great debt of gratitude to senator Kennedy and his family for this. I'm very Happy to know of sen. Kennedy's concern"
