Hi everyone!
I’m looking for a new pair of basketball shoes to use specifically for indoor volleyball, and I’d really like to make the right choice this time. I’ve been researching for quite a while and I’m honestly overwhelmed by the number of options, so I’d really appreciate advice from people who have actually tried these shoes.
I’m looking for a shoe specifically suited to a volleyball setter. I rely a lot on quick footwork, lateral movement, sudden stops, changes of direction and getting to the ball quickly.
COURT:
The court I play on is indoor. It isn’t extremely dusty, but it’s also not perfectly clean, so traction needs to remain reliable when there is some dust on the floor.
WHAT I’M LOOKING FOR:
My priorities are:
I’m a setter, so I care more about quickness, lateral movement, stability and responsiveness than having a huge amount of cushioning.
SHOES I’M CURRENTLY CONSIDERING:
- Way of Wade WOW 12
- Way of Wade WOW 11
- Way of Wade WOW 10
- Way of Wade All City 14 Encore
- Way of Wade 808 5 Ultra V2
- Nike GT Cut 1
- Nike GT Cut 2
- Nike GT Cut 3 Turbo
- Nike GT Cut 3
- Nike GT Cut 4
- Nike KD 19
- Nike Ja 3
- Nike Ja 4
- Nike A’Two
- Nike Sabrina 4
- 361° Joker 2 GT
- Kobe 6 Protro
I know this is a pretty long list, but I’m trying to compare as many good options as possible before making my final decision.
I’m also wondering whether I should wait for the Caitlin 1 to release and get more reviews before buying, or if there are already better options available right now.
PRICE:
I will say not more than 190-200$. I’m mainly interested in finding the BEST shoe for my needs rather than simply the cheapest option.
Of course, if two shoes are very similar in performance, I’d rather choose the better value one.
WHAT I REALLY WANT TO KNOW:
If you had to choose ONE shoe from this entire list specifically for an indoor volleyball setter with my priorities, which one would you choose?
I’d especially appreciate comparisons between the shoes rather than just saying “X is good.”
For example:
- Which has the best traction?
- Which has the best lateral stability?
- Which feels the quickest?
- Which has the best lockdown?
- Which has the best cushioning without sacrificing responsiveness?
- Which works best on slightly dusty courts?
- Which is the most durable?
- Which has the best overall combination of everything for a setter?
And most importantly:
If you had to buy ONE pair for my exact situation and use it for the whole season, which one would you pick?
I’m completely open to other recommendations too. If you think there is another basketball shoe or even a volleyball shoe that would suit a setter better than everything I listed, PLEASE recommend it.
I’m not attached to any of these models — I just want to find the best possible option and finally stop overthinking this 😂
I’m completely open to any recommendations, so if you think there’s another basketball shoe or even a volleyball shoe that would suit a setter better than the ones I listed, I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts.
I know this is a pretty long post, but I’ve been researching shoes for a while and I’m having a really hard time making a final decision. I’d really appreciate any personal experiences, comparisons, advice or recommendations you’re willing to share. Even if you’ve only tried one or two of these models, your experience would still be really helpful.
Thanks so much to everyone who takes the time to read this and share their experience. I really appreciate any help you can give me, and hopefully this will finally help me make up my mind! 🙏

I'm currently considering:
- Nike Ja 4
- Way of Wade 10
- Way of Wade All City 14 Encore
- Way of Wade 808 5 Ultra
- Nike Ja 3
- Nike A'Two
- Nike Gt Cut 3 turbo
What I'm mainly looking for:
- Excellent traction
- Quick and responsive feel
- Good lateral stability
- Great lockdown
- Good cushioning
- Good durability
- Not too heavy or bulky
The court I play on isn't extremely dusty, but it's not perfectly clean either.
My budget is €140 max (around $165), preferably less if I can find a good sale.
I'm especially interested in the models above, but I'm completely open to other suggestions.
If you know of any basketball shoes that would be even better for a volleyball setter and fit my needs and budget, I'd really appreciate your recommendations
For those who have tried any of these shoes, which one would you personally choose for my situation, and why?
Thanks a lot for the help
Hi everyone!
I'm a volleyball setter playing at club level, and I'm looking for a new pair of shoes.
As a setter, I'm looking for something that feels very quick and responsive, with excellent traction, good lateral stability, lockdown, cushioning and durability. I especially need a shoe that performs well for quick movements and explosive changes of direction.
The court I play on isn't extremely dusty, but it's not perfectly clean either.
My budget is €150 ($175) maximum, preferably less if I can find a good deal.
What would you recommend as the best shoe specifically for a setter? I'm open to both volleyball-specific shoes and basketball shoes.
Thanks a lot for your recommendations!

I was also considering the WOW 12, but they're around €190 (~$220) here, which is too expensive for me. If I go for a WOW shoe, I'd only consider the WOW 12, so I'm mainly looking for other options.
For those who have tried any of these shoes, which one would you personally recommend for indoor volleyball and why?
Which one do you think would be the best overall for my needs?
Also, if you know of any other basketball shoes that would be better for my needs, feel free to recommend them!
Thanks!
