Questions of the future in aging and longevity research at the GIMM (Nature Aging)

One thing I found interesting is how many different paths people think could lead to healthier aging, senolytics, stem cells, epigenetic reprogramming, AI-driven drug discovery, regenerative medicine, and more.

If you had to bet on one area that will have the biggest real-world impact over the next 10–15 years, which would it be and why?

Personally, I'm especially interested in regenerative medicine. The idea of helping aging tissues repair themselves feels like one of the most exciting directions in the field.

Are ee trying to regrow hair when we should be preservung follicles?

Something I’ve been wondering about lately.

A lot of hair loss treatments seem to focus on regrowing hair after significant follicle miniaturization has already occurred. But if hair loss is a gradual biological process involving changes in follicle metabolism, dermal papilla function, extracurricular matrix remodeling, inflammatory signaling, and androgen sensitivity, wouldn’t preserving follicle function earlier be a more effective strategy?

It feels like many of the newer approaches in development are starting to look beyond simply stimulating growth and are instead targeting the biology that contributes to follicle decline in the first place.

Is follicle preservation an underappreciated area of hair loss research? Curious to hear what people think.

How do you guys decide what research is actually worth trusting

Does anyone else feel like hair loss research has one of the biggest gaps between scientific language and normal person understanding?

Sometimes i’ll read a study abstract and think “wait this sounds promising” then i open the full discussion and suddenly everyone is arguing about sample size, mechanisms, statistical significance, and whether the photos were even comparable.

How do you personally decide when something is actually worth paying attention to?
