iPhone battery depleted upon arrival

I’ve submitted a help request in the app but this has been an insane experience. My iPhone arrived today but when I went to turn it on it wouldn’t turn on. I plugged it in and got stuck in the Apple logo boot loop. I held volume and power to keep the screen off while it charged a little. I finally got it to boot. Now it’s stuck at 1% no matter what. It will then will shut off obviously, returning to a boot loop.

I was able to get through setup fast enough and got the battery not recognized notification:

“Battery Not Recognized

This can happen if the battery is not a genuine Apple part or was installed incorrectly. View more details in Parts & Service History in Settings.”

Can someone please explain to me how an electronic refurbishing company doesn’t check their fixes? Or how it wasn’t checked just prior to shipping?

This experience has left me genuinely bewildered. How was there so many different points of failure throughout the refurb and shipping process?

Right now I’m frustrated by what went j to receiving a lemon. I hope support will alleviate this but I’m not sure they can. I’ll go through the return and fix and send it back to me process but I doubt ill ever use back market again. Just a crazy number of failures in their process/lack of quality control.
