Time for round 2

So, a day or two ago...i think, i asked how many mechs i should have ready by the time Legend of the Kestrel Lancers started, first time i had basically just 3, now, well now i jave a full assault lance, 3 heavy mechs and 6 medium mechs. Granted not all are equal, only i am allowed to run the Boars Head(put a t5 gauss on it i found in a infilitration) and the Hellsinger(removed the streaks and gave it more armor and a double sink or two), the AI get a royal regiment stalker and an awsome 8q. For heavies i run a royal warhammer that is basically a mini hellsinger(same loadout, 2ppcs and 4 mls) and i give the AI a Thunderbolt and a Rifleman. After these i have an asortment of mediums, 2 centurions,a hunch-4g, the kobold, the valentina wolverine and an enforcer. And my money maker ironically enough, the spider you get at the start, i take this bad boy in dif 100 missions, grab a package or two and dip, at worst it costed me 16k to repair but regulary makes 3mil per mission with an all time high of 5mil. This time im ready, only problem...the upkeep is 1.15mil...the assaults are not cheap on the upkeep...after 3032 i am changing all my heavies for loader kings(my beloved).

How many mechs do you have before the dlc campaigns start?

In my main career i had to skip The Legend of the Kestrel Lancers because i didnt have enough mechs. Thing is all my mechs are custom pieces built just to my liking, so the 7mil Marauder i bought will need an XL Engine(+1.7mil), a new AC 5RF at the highest tier i can find, endo steel structure, an upscaled core(think i went for a 275, i don t remember) plus the build cost and we are looking at like 12mil cbills, never mind the Cyclops that i basically fully remade with tier 5 weapons, xl engines, a bigger core, endo, ams, gyro, etc i only had 3 mechs i was happy with at the start of the dlc(i had a couple of free extras but those are just to fill tonage if possible). Is my strategy simply not sustainable? Should i get more stock mechs?

Edit: Should mention that i only go out with fully repaired mechs, if that arm is yellow you know i am waiting 3 days for it to be fixed

Is it me or do the clan mechs look like plastic?

I mean look at an Archer or Warhammer, they look like war machines that have been battered by time, then look at a MadCat, it looks like its an enlarged plastic toy. All clan mechs look like plastic, not even a scatch on the paint, for a warrior culture all their mechs look brand new and unused, like a classic thats been sitting in a rich dudes garage since the 1970s whos engine has never even been started but maintained by a team of mechanics 24/7

Stealth Battlemaster-2C

Would this be viable? The idea was to start a new career with just this one mech at the start (headcannon, we lose all mechs in the beginning and find dad's passion project, a lostech wonder) so it had to be capable of most mission types. In theory its not too shabby, full stealth, medium mechs speed with assault armor and decent if lighter armament.

Cyclops CP-10-Z Build - Gungnir

So, i love the Sleipnir but at 30mil cbills its a tad expensive for me so i decided to make my own Sleipnir and after too much save scumming the shops i did it. While not yet equipped with T5 weapons only its a solid piece of mech. Close to max armor complemented by an AMS with 1t of ammo and BM Countermeasures. Replaced the AC20 with a Gauss and 3t of ammo for better long ranged power, the LRM10 and SRM4 were merged into an LRM20ST(haven't found an ARTIV yet) and another 3t of ammo, gave it 2 additional Medium lasers for anti-chaff. I put an XL engine of a Pirates's Bane it it and uped the core to a 370(still looking for a mobility gyro to get it to 70kph). All that i am missing besides the gyro is a Sniper Sensor and FCS Projectile Predictive. I call it Gungnir to keep the norse theming. I think i should rearrange the armor a bit tho.

Any ballistic alternative to the Battlemaster? No YAML

As the title says, i am looking for a mech similar in feel to the Battlemaster but ballistic, something capable of 64kph with two large balistic slots and maybe 2 small slots with good armor, closest i could get to my dream mech was a modified Black widow where i stripped down everything to make room for 2 ER PPCs and 2 AC 2 RFs but would have loved 2 Gauss rifles instead of the ppcs or the Sleipnir but thats too expensive for early game
