Deleted an accidental duplicate account, now can't move my old email over. Anyone dealt with this?
Back in 2023, I made an Upwork account using my university email for a class assignment. Sent proposals through it back then, no work history or earnings though.
A few weeks ago I accidentally created a second account with my personal Gmail. Realized the mistake fast and deleted it right away, no proposals or activity on it at all.
Now I'm trying to update my original account's email to that personal Gmail, since that's the one I actually want to use going forward, but Upwork won't let me because it's still tied to the deleted account. I contacted support and got the standard bot response saying deleted accounts don't release their email.
Has anyone actually gotten this resolved through a human agent? Did you have to escalate a certain way or wait it out? Trying to avoid doing anything that looks sketchy to their system; I just want my one legit account on the right email.
