ISB Police just got an upgrade

Boys just got an iconic upgrade. Went straight to the American and Gulf model of patrol vehicles.

Coming from the vigo hilux which was essentially indistinguishable from the murghi vans you see on GT road, I’d say commendable.

Before and after New blue area

Change is a part of life but I can’t help to miss the old F9 Jinnah avenue with the 2 lane road and the green roundabout.

Nowadays it’s kind of stressful to drive there with four lanes especially with the increasing number of idiots.

Which one do you prefer? And if given the option would you keep the old one or the new one?

What happened to old Islamabad?

Does anyone else feel like old Islamabad and todays Islamabad are almost two different cities?

I remember Islamabad feling quieter, slower, and somehow more peaceful. Roads didn't seem this crowded, evenings felt calmer, and going out didn't require planning around traffic and packed places. There was this sense of space and simplicity that made the city special.

Don't get me wrong, the city has grown in many good ways too. There are more restaurants, more activities, and more things happening than ever before. But sometimes I miss that old Islamabad vibe where life felt less rushed and the city had a unique calmness to it.

Or maybe I'm just getting older and romanticizing the past.Maybe this is just nostalgia talking, but I'm curious: for those who've lived here for a long time, what do you miss most about old Islamabad, and what do you think has improved in the new Islamabad?

portable ac vs split

i’m researching different ac options for my hostel room at uni and i wanted to know which option was better. i could get a 0.75-1 ton portable ac which would be easier to move around except they require an exhaust pipe which means it’ll be fitted through the window and i won’t get to open my window without taking the whole setup out. matlab it would be there permanently. however the pro is i wont be paying an extra electricity bill of THAT much compared to installing split. for split i’ll get a 1 ton and it’s definitely more expensive but once i buy it i can use it for the next 4 years comfortably and even after that i can get use out if it. the downside of split is that i’ll have to pay a lot more money since my university charges more per month for a split ac.

also with portable, im not sure about the upkeep and if its worth it in the long run. any advice would be appreciated, thankyou.

Lack of third place in islamabad

Yaar, does anyone else feel like Islamabad has zero third places?

By third place I mean somewhere that isn't your ghar or office. A place where you can just chill, meet random people, make friends, pick up a hobby, or just exist without feeling like you're expected to spend a fortune.

Har jagah ya to itni mehngi hai ke roz jaana impossible hai, ya phir members only, university walon ke liye, company walon ke liye, ya kisi private club ka scene. Matlab aam banda jaye to jaye kahan?

Office se niklo, traffic mein phaso, ghar aao, khana khao, Netflix ya mobile scroll karo, so jao. Weekend pe ya family commitments hoti hain ya phir wahi coffee scene jahan har cup Rs. 800–1500 ka milta hai. Ye koi social life hui?

Aur phir log kehte hain, "Make new friends", "Network karo", "Meet new people." Bhai, kahan? Literally kahan? University ke baad agar tumhara existing friend circle nahi hai to game over.

Mujhe lagta hai isi wajah se hum Pakistanis apni hi chhoti si bubble mein rehte hain. Bachpan ke dost, cousins, office ke log... bas wahi duniya hai. Na naye log milte hain, na different backgrounds ke logon se interaction hota hai. Phir hum hairan hote hain ke society itni closed kyun hai.

Islamabad ko planned city bolte hain, but it doesn't feel like a city built for people. It feels like a city built for cars and houses. Park bhi jao to log apni family ke saath hote hain, cafés mein already formed groups baithe hote hain, aur koi aisi jagah hi nahi jahan community naturally ban sake.

Kabhi kabhi lagta hai hum sirf kaam karne ke liye exist karte hain. Ghar → Office → Ghar. Bas yehi life reh gayi hai.

Ya sirf mujhe hi aisa lagta hai?

How many of you would be interested in a fantasy book club in Bahria Town?

Basically the title. I have seen some book clubs in Islamabad side, however they are usually focused on all genre books. I am interested in starting a fantasy+romance genre only bookclub, so want to guage how many people will be interested because there is no point in working on it if there aren't any people willing to join.

Location would be around DHA 1, Bahria Town Phase 7-8 Rawalpindi for these.

Initially I'm thinking I would only charge 3-500 ish for joining, and people would order the drinks or snacks themselves wherever the venue is.

Would love some advice or suggestions if anyone has any!
