Disaster of Technology - Koshin「更侵」
Koshin is a cursed spirit born from humanity's relationship with the forward march of technology; being displaced, replaced, left behind, forced to adapt to it, and watching the world they each knew be destroyed in a way that cannot be reversed.
Its personality is naïve, childlike, and cruel; however, it takes no pleasure in its cruelty. At most, it finds a mild satisfaction in learning from the death and destruction it causes, navigating it all with a cold and uncaring affect. Unlike other disaster curses, it has no concept of right and wrong nor any understanding of human suffering. When it was presented with the concept of curses conquering and replacing humanity, it found that to be exciting and the natural goal of its existence. It was the ultimate expression of change and progress. Despite its seemingly robotic nature, it is still born of humanity and still experiences emotions and connections that grow as it develops and learns.
Cursed Technique - Empire Tomorrow
Its technique manifests as a domain expansion with the appearance of a desolate wasteland. All those inside the domain forcefully have their knowledge and experiences shared with one another in an instant flash. Special grade cursed tools inscribed with all their innate techniques are created and distributed, allowing for the temporary use of one another's unlearnable abilities while those tools are held. These tools are destroyed when the domain ends or when they cross the border of the domain. The knowledge that was shared will be forgotten unless a conscious effort is made to memorize it. Its use of this domain relies on it having a better mentality for it to use and abuse the shared information and techniques.
How it feels of others:
Towards Dagon (cursed womb), it feels a sense of curiosity. It appreciates getting to see the process of a similar being making those basic connections it had to make at some point. He is an interesting case study that should be made to develop.
Towards Hanami, there is a sense of estrangement. They essentially represent completely opposite concepts. Koshin is a manifestation of the imbalance humanity creates that disturbs nature. It does not feel wronged by any resentment or disgust she holds.
Towards Jogo, it feels a sense of respect. It enjoys his revolutionary philosophy of progress. His association with the earth and fire also has feelings of familiarity with its own nature.
Towards Mahito, it feels an affinity, sharing his experimental nature and desire to learn and grow as well as a more direct connection to humanity than the other disasters who are rooted in nature and the world. It also wants to pull humans apart and take whatever can be taken from their existence.
Towards Kenjaku, it feels intense fascination. If only it could have what lay inside his mind, all of the progress, invention, and knowledge he has amassed, all of his designs. There is perhaps no greater a repository of everything it values than that human.
Extra notes (may add more):
Its name is a pun on koshin (更新), meaning update or innovation. While its name roughly evokes connotations of (continued/further/renewed) + (invasion/violation/encroachment).
The art used for the thumbnail/cover is an edit of one of the monsters from the game SOMA.
Edit 1: The name Empire Tomorrow is a continuation of the themes set up by the curse's name. Technology is an empire that conquers and incorporates everything it touches.
This is why knowledge and techniques within the domain are shared among everyone. It is as if the process of study and innovation has already happened. You're added to the metaphorical empire.
