Cable box splitter has two open spots but there are 5 unattached cables

Spitter on bottom left has two open spots. There are 5 unattached cables. Can I replace the splitter with one that has 5 open spots to attach cables?

Some of the blue cables on the right might be for land line phone connection. We haven’t had a landline for 11 years. Any guess what the 9 connections are for at top left?

Using a Ethernet switch from PVR to make wired backhaul with Deco or new Moca to coax?

I have internet in lower level of larger 2 story home. Currently have Telus modem with built in Moca 2.0 attached to TP link deco with two wireless upstairs. 90% of internet/ smart tv is upstairs. I want to strengthen the wifi.

We have coax cable in all bedrooms, living room and open office. Only the living room and 1 bedroom has smart TVs with Moca 2.0

I’m a senior with very little understanding of tech terminologies .

Which might be best?

Use an unmanaged switch between TV 2.0 Moca and PVR. Connecting Ethernet from Moca to switch, then plug on short Ethernet to PVR with other Ethernet port connecting my TP link deco with a 10 feet Ethernet cord.

Or

Getting another Moca 2.0? And connecting it to coax cable connection ( shares cover with telephone jack) in office which is one wall away from our living room.

Last question

Both our current Moca are 12 years old. Would there be any advantage to changing them with new ones?
